Ever had a trip delay due to weather, illness, etc. for a LL package?
Has anyone ever had a trip delay or cancellation due to weather, illness, etc. and it was a LL package - did you have trip insurance to cover, worked with the LL hotel to change dates?
I have insurance to cover my airfare for my March trip but did not do insurance to cover the hotel portions of the trip this time. I usually get insurance for all my trips but this time I did not and am doing 2 LL packages back to back and would hate to have a weather or other delay screw them up.Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

We've had medical issues--mostly the recurring bone infection in my thumb. Best laid plans of mice and men! Once we got to ATL and had a flight issue, so we called the Mexico property and they moved us w/out any problem. Similar issue w/weather once, and again, hotel took care of the delay. Granted, we usually fly off-season and luckily can change connections. We had a problem last year, when we discovered we couldn't get to BKK to reach Bali, so we changed gears while at the airport and re-routed thru Singapore. Thank goodness for reliable points programs to switch quickly--cancel w/out penalty and rebook in a different city--all online or via phone.
We've been blessed with great customer service thru LL properties. We did need the Concierge to assist us a few times, but most of the properties have been "accommodating".
I always ask about possible delays/changes up front, to determine what what might be our recourse.

I figured the LL hotels would/could maybe accomodate delays, although if the place is fully booked they may not be able to. I don't have the luxury of points programs to change flights without penalties so figure air is the important thing to insure. Never had any delays evens though we always travel in early March for our 2 week trip - this winter looks like it may be a problem with the rain, snow, etc. we have had already!

Wow. Good point and good topic. We haven't had this happen but I can easily see it being an issue. I guess if it was happening, I would call the property first and copy LL. I would hope that all would be flexible.

01-08-2013, 02:50 PMI got delayed on a trip to Belize, but the property was kind enough to switch the dates and they even upgraded me to a larger three bedroom unit when I finally arrived two days later.

The only time we had a problem was in Switzerland, where the hotel closed early for renovation. However, they were more than happy to let us use the property a year later.
So far so good, we never had a problem with our LL purchases so far.
