Help folks. Thinking about going to the Fairmont in St. James, Barbados. What have been your experiences and what are the recommendations? Do you recommend getting a car, where are the restaurants? Is it worth the money, seems fairly expensive. looking forward to advice.

Re: Fairmont Royal Pavilion - Barbados
The Royal Pavillion is FABULOUS as is the sister property Glitter Bay. We've been there twice and each time is fantastic. Water sports are free so be certain to go to the beach shack each morning and sign up. Boat rides to swim with sea turtles, or snorkel over shipwrecks are wonderful - snorkel equipment is also complimentary. There is a hobie cat that you can take out yourself or have a guide captain - again free!!! Tip the staff is our suggestion. Yes get a car the island is easy to explore if you are used to driving on the left - or adaptable as my husband is! Sea flower acve is great - sea amemonies abound. harrisons cave is a welcome respite from the sun - go in the afternoon and enjoy the cool cave tram. Many local restaurants are good - by the wharf. Good local fish etc. We like the lean to shacks - good food - near the market in town...it may look terrible but the food is good and buy your own small bottle of rum - Good times Enjoy ...Funtimes
