BALLOON FESTIVALS

ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA, NM USA - Held in October each year, this is the world’s largest Balloon Festival. It grew to 1,019 balloons in 2000, before being pared back to the current maximum of 600 balloons, due to space and crowd considerations - emphasizing quality over quantity. It is an amazing event to see, with activities over 9 days. http://www.balloonfiesta.com 2011 dates are Oct. 1st through the 9th.

While looking for information on the Albuquerque balloon festival, I came across the following link:

When accessing an area’s list, I discovered that if you click on one of the columns to sort the list, the window will fully open up to show the complete list for the area – not just the 3 to 4 that are initially showing. Shy ~

Just added the balloon festival to our bucket list!

We enjoyed a lavender festival in Provence this past summer and wouldn't mind making it a yearly pilgrimage. We stayed at La Bonne Etape (an LL property) and concluded that it was the perfect Relais & Chateaux property for visiting the area.

I am new to this Forum and I joined because Travel is our passion and this looks like a nice site.
A few years ago we spent time in the Provence and the Lavender was blooming everywhere.
Usually lavender blooms from mid June through mid July . Here is some informatiion for you. Very beautiful. Lavender Fields of Provence, Provencal themes and traditions, by Provence Beyond
