In case you never heard of Powell's, it is the biggest bookstore in the country (perhaps the world) and it's an institution up here in the Northwest. There are several Powell's in Portland and I can spend hours meandering through the aisles and looking at interesting books. thanks for the heads up regarding the sale on Frommer's books. I've got a couple I'm in need of - I'm thinking about taking my daughter and her friend down to New Orleans for a couple of days, and my books are totally out of date - it will be interesting to see what is now written about New Orleans post Katrina.

Glad to be of assistance. I've found the Frommer's guides to be quite informative. I haven't been to New Orleans since around 1988, so it's been a very long time. I still remember drinking Hurricanes while waiting in line to eat at Galatoire's. After waiting for an hour and a half to be seated, the waiter told us that they were out of almost everything and that they had only two entrees. We were tempted to leave, but after such a long wait, we decided to stay. Bad move. It was by far the worst dinner that we've ever had in a nice restaurant. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the info, though it would have been better if I heard of the sale a bit earlier. I already purchased Paris, Italy, and London 2008 a few days ago. I'll go and see if I'll be needing some of the other books so I can take advantage of the sale.
