Good airline experience....so far
We are flying AA and Lan in January to Chile and Argentina. I just noticed LAN changed some flight times. I called to discuss with LAN. They were so kind. They wanted me to "feel comfortable" with the flight schedule changes and would do whether changes that were necessary without fees to make me feel comfortable. They were so sympathetic and helpful....wow.....the human side of airlines!!! What a novelty!!

10-17-2011, 03:18 PMWhen I was in Chile, Lan changed a flight on me and my family and only sent me an email in Spanish! When we missed the plane, (of course,) they were super nice and put me on the next plane without charging me anything. I would recommend LAN to anyone--nice fleet of new planes too!
I guess I should mention that it was my fault (I booked the flight through their Spanish section of the website, not sure if that still exists) since the price was a hundred dollars cheaper.

Hi N...that is good! I actually booked with the assistance of LAN because I was doing "creative" pricing! They were helpful. I also LOVE their snack baskets!

I was recently on TAM airlines (Brazil) which was recently acquired by LAN, I think, and first thing they did on the flight was hand out candy! Great way to start a flight.

Yes, it is always fun to open the meal/snack boxes distributed aboard LAN flights and nibble on those wonderful Havanna Alfajors [chocolate soooooorich].
What has not been fun has been the negative impact the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle Volcano in Chile has had with the sporadically active since June of 2011 on domestic air flights in Argentina (Brazil and Uruguay as well at times). We were at the domestic airport in Buenos Aires, waiting for a flight south to Neuquén, when more than 30 flights were grounded.
Even as the year goes on, for anyone heading to Argentina, especially south of Mendoza and/or Buenos Aires.....keep a careful eye on the volcanic ash conditions and 'seriously consider' paying a few extra bucks for trip cancellation/trip interruption protection.- Ω -

Hi O...I am sorry you had those flight issues. I guess you were not able to get to Neuquen? I thought I read that Bariloche airport was having some work done and would be closed until December also? Can't wait for your trip report and any tips for our trip in January!!! Welcome home!
