GREAT ONLINE AUCTION

Global Traveler is having a great online silent auction right now. They're auctioning off flights and hotels all over the world, golf fees and clubs, sightseeing deals and much more. I've been watching the auction and bids haven't been going up very much since the auction started last month. It's possible that bidders are waiting until the last minute to jump in, but there are some amazing deals right now. The auction ends on May 15.

Hi P. Thanks for the tip. What is global traveler? Have you used it in the past? I have never heard of it? Thanks for any info. (Hope its not like the auctions at Leading hotels of the world...what a fiasco!)

Bonniejoy, I found Global Traveler one day when I was surfing the net. Although I've never used it, I don't think that it's anything like the Leading Hotels of the World fiasco. The LHW deal wasn't an auction. Site visitors were told that they could get incredibly cheap rooms and it didn't work. This is completely different. It's an actual silent auction where bidders can bid on items, just like on Luxury Link auctions. The auction closes on May 15. Has anybody on Luxury Link bid on any items?

wow, there are some really great prices in there... it will be interesting to see if they skyrocket up at the last minute!

I'm keeping my eye on a few of the items. Many of the auction items shot up as soon as the auction began and there hasn't been much movement on them since. Good luck and let me know if you buy something.

I grabbed some NYC Circle Line passes (4) for less than half price of ONE! I have family members who love doing the tour--so do I!!

I got shot down very last second by a sniper---Riu Palace Nueva Vallarta 7 nights AI--less than $600 for 2 persons
GOT to be braver and bolder next time! It wasn't really a must-buy, but , gosh, that was a steal and a half!

I just got a yr subscription to Global Boingo ($60/mo) fro around $150

AND--I am in the hunt for a little stay in an exotic location (came close to bidding on the Sal Islands resort but getting there is a bit tricky from the States AND it could be a bit too Euro-condo-y for us)

I shall disclose my next acquisition IF I get it...

Good for you, Kyshel. I'm glad that I was able to alert you to the auction and I hope some other Luxury Link members checked out and bid on some of the items. There are still two NYC Circle line four packs available as of this time. I bid on a three night stay at the Kimberly Hotel in NYC but I had to leave the house and I got outbid while I was gone. The package would have been an absolute steal at $220. Good luck getting your exotic stay. I wish there was a way to find out the winning bids to see how much I was outbid by. I would have bid on more items but a lot of them had expiration dates that are pretty soon. With two kids in school and a working wife it's hard to make plans so far in advance.

That was one very exhilarating experience--I love/hate auctions!@!!

I did get 3 nights at the Fairmont Heliopolis (near CAI airport, Egypt) for less than $300 US. One bedroom suite runs $1400 rack rate per night!! It's not my fave location for touring Cairo or Giza but at that price...

I'm still banging my head on the wall over the Mexico resort--but as my husband said in his email--"you'll get 'em next time" (that's the most he ever types in one msg!!)
