Guess who has a new note pad???
Finally broke down and got the notepad for our travels. I bought a basic HP mini. It is soooo cute! I plan to use this on our travels. Questions for all: If they say, free wifi, is that me??? One place we stay says " FREE In Room high speed Internet Access (Provided through local phone company) with optional wireless. (on request)" What does that mean??? Is is still dial up and how do I get dial up on the mini?? (I will still email the property but was a little confused.)

Re: Guess who has a new note pad???
I know I know!!!
I recommend a 12 ft cable--most hotels will provide 6'
yep--free internet--may not be wifi in room (as in wired) w/out charge
that's usually a modem port, not dial up tho
(often that translates as FREE wireless only in lobby or certain public spaces)
varies within hotel chains sometimes, too
get details prior to check-in if you wanna get the real scoop
Have a happy time with it!!"wherever you go, there you are"

Well, good luck with the notebook. I will stick with my laptop so my finger can find the keys. Never leave home without your own cable and check twice before you believe the WiFi is free.

K & M.....Thank you for the tips. Will bring the plugs...good suggestion. Will be emailing our places in Anguilla and Virgin Gorda to confirm with them where the access is located and confirming it is free. I have been having fun trying out some if its capabilities. I think it will be better than going to the internet cafes. We were using them in VG. It is sooo tiny!!!

No, not yet! The netbook (or whatever you call it) is great. I called our places in Anguilla and Virgin Gorda and I will be able to use it. We will try it at the beach this weekend. It is a "mini". Sorry to disappoint Mountie!

Well, bonniejoy03, by now you must have returned from Anguilla. Were you able to stay in touch with all the action here at LL with your new netbook toy?

Re: Guess who has a new note pad???
Oh My Goodness...it was perfect!!! First, I was able to work on the Chile trip with LL and the hotel and airline to finalize flights and travel times. This was quite impt being that I was holding frequent flier tickets for only 5 days!!! (Normal air is over $1200 but we had the points so it was perfect!). Second, I got to hear the updates on my soon to be born great niece/nephew due any minute. I was also able to reconfirm our flights home. The best part was to stay in touch with our dear housesitter and watch videos of our pup partying in our absence!! Oh yes, we also got to watch our tennis times in that we played in the Anguilla NBA 3rd annual tennis tournament. We could watch for our next matches. There was so much inclement weather so many matches were postponed. We got to play the courts at Cuisinart....very nice! (And a plug for Cuisinart which is an LL auction..great property!) ..I loved having it with us and appreciated not going to an internet cafe. The thing is so small and so easy to manuever. I love it!!!! I think my husband really appreciated it also in that he could get regular pup updates!! We also received communications from our friends in Guatemala so could try to communicate as best as possible. What a great toy!! Also, the weather wasn't too good in Anguilla so we could sneak a few peaks into the LL auctions! (very difficult to stay away!) Thanks for asking!!!

bonniejoy03,
You sound like you are really enjoying your new toy. We recently were very disappointed with ours when we had no access to the internet on our April crossing the Atlantic on the MSC Poesia. The weather was so bad that reception was very spotty, and to top it all off the ship wanted $42 an hour to access the net.

LL_Travelfan, looks like a really nice ship. You must have taken a reposition cruise. As I recall, you were looking for one some time back in one of your postings. Did you go all out and get the butler service?
