Hi travel2fun,
Yes, the MSC Poesia is a relatively new ship (2008) and she is beautiful. We wound up taking this repositioning cruise out of New York to Hamburg, Germany on April 30th after our AA flight to Paris and LH flight to Munich were cancelled on April 20 due to the volcanic ash cloud. We had booked a level 1 inside cabine but were upgraded to a level 12 stateroom with balcony. The ship originally sailed out of Fort Lauderdale, but a lot of people got off in New York, so more cabines opened up at the higher levels than at the lower levels. It certainly was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, this spoiled us and we will always want a cabine with balcony from now on. Eating out 3 meals a day for 16 days quickly became an old hat, now matter how attractive the food looked. The shows were great and so was the spa and the gym, being located at the end of the ship with a window that spanned the entire width of the ship. Luckily we had packed some games since we could not use our notebook. The weather in May on this crossing was 100% rain, 16 days worth it..... most excursions in Ponta DelGado, Lisbon, La Carunia, Bilbao, and Dover were not worth leaving the ship for due to rain and poor visibility. Would I do it again? probably not, 16 days ist just too long for my taste.
