HAS ANYONE FLOWN ALLEGIANT AIR?
I'm flying on Allegiant Air tomorrow for the first time and I was wondering if anyone else has experience flying them. Their rates for the particular route that I'm flying are 1/3 to 1/2 the rate of the two major airlines that fly the same route. Of course, I'm allowed only one small carry-on, I can't choose my seat in advance, and there would have been an additional fee if I had booked on-line instead of picking my ticket up at the airport, but it's a short flight and I can deal with sitting anywhere in exchange for the money that I'm saving.

Hi P...???? Never heard of this carrier? What is your route? Where do they fly? Domestic and/or international? We are seeing more of Air Tran. I have used them to Florida. They are flying out of smaller regional airports. Would love to learn more about Allegiant.

allthough i have not flown it myself, there are two families that i do know that travel allegiant air all the time. one family travels three times a year to arizona. the other does business in arizona and travels about three times a month and has done so for the past couple of years. both have said nothing but good about this carrier. the only thing you should watch is they only travel on certain days, which is why maybe they can charge the prices they do. hope this helps

Re: HAS ANYONE FLOWN ALLEGIANT AIR?
My opinion: Allegiant Air is similar to riding a Greyhound Bus.....well, maybe not quite as nice as the bus. Consider the average age of their previously (heavily) used fleet is around 20 years and they only do turn arounds...which means if there is an equipment problem, there is no backup to roll out....you're rolling the dice. I've flown them twice (only way to get to where I had to go).
Somehow they manage to fill every seat...must be the rock bottom fares or the fact they are the only service in and out of many second and third tier cities.
Keep you expectation low and you probably will not be disappointed.- Ω -

Since your flight is short, I would doubt it's of much consequence, compared to your savings but here are a FEW opinions; good, bad, etc:

Re: HAS ANYONE FLOWN ALLEGIANT AIR?
Allegiant Air actually flies all over the country, primarily to secondary and tertiary markets, as O stated. They do fly to some larger cities such as L.A., the Chicago area (I'm not sure which airport), Tampa/St. Pete's, but most of their destinations are smaller cities such as Bellingham, Chattanooga, Des Moines, etc.
We're flying from Eugene to Oakland to visit our daughter for parent's weekend. She's a freshman in college. The roundtrip fare is only $99 for the hour and a half flight. Alaska and United usually charge between $200 and $300, if not more, so we certainly got a bargain. Allegiant flies one round trip on Friday and one on Monday, so if the days fit into your schedule, it's a great deal, and I assume that they fly similar, i.e., not very frequent, schedules into other cities. I'm looking forward to some great eating in the Bay Area.

I hate flying into the Oakland International Airport. The runway markings only have "L."

Re: HAS ANYONE FLOWN ALLEGIANT AIR?
Well, I flew on Allegiant Air and I lived to tell about it, so the trip was a success. Allegiant offers no frills, not even free drinks or pretzels, but they got my wife and I where we wanted to go and they were on time. For the price that I paid, it was a definite bargain. If you're expecting a first class travel experience, then Allegiant isn't for you, but if you're looking to get from point A to point B the cheapest way possible, then consider them. They fly to fifty or sixty destinations all over the country.
The worst part of my four day weekend was going to the Cal/USC game and watching the Trojans crush the Bears, but I can't blame that on the airline ;-).
