Oh Mountie!! No,, I have never swapped houses! Our area is popular with people from cities such as New York. It is considered a nice country place! Guess I should think about "doing it!"

mountie....are you asking about swapping or exchanging your primary residence or one of your rental properties (didn't you indicate you have one or more of these)?

04-18-2011, 03:25 PMmountie, I have thought about doing something like this for years, but don't have rental properties, as you do, and I just can't seem to come to grips with a stranger moving into my home. Strange, I guess, but it is the way I feel about it.
I'm sure I have missed some fabulous opportunities over the years.

mountie....tried an exchange once involving our beach place for an urban apartment. We specified 'non-smoking' both in our place as well as the place we were accepting. Turned out to be a mistake for us....they obviously smoked which was put a wet blanket on the experience. Would not consider exchanging our primary residence.
We have spoken with people who swear by exchanges. Guess it is a matter of the luck of the draw.- Ω -

We have exchanged our primary home twice in the 1980ies and '90ies to long-term (8 months) GE Exchange Students from Japan with their wives. In both cases we had nothing but good experiences and have formed friendships for life. One of the families works for the afflicted Kepco Co. reactors and we worry about them, but they assured us they were ok, but we still wonder and worry ...
