Have you ever been inspired by a movie to travel somewhere?
Has a place in a movie ever inspired you to travel there? I have to admit I have never had a great desire to travel to Wasington State but after watching the Twlight movies (I know they are teen flicks but I am hooked for some odd reason) and all the scenes in the forest make me really want to go there in person - any of you from Washington state - are these forests for real or does the movie just make them look so wonderful?
After seeing Paris featured in so many movies, I did finally go there and it did live up to my "movie" expectations - so far this was the only place I went to based on seeing it so many times in movies.
I have seen other movies and recognized places I had been to - that is fun being able to say "I was there" ;-)Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

After weeks of Twin Peaks Dinner Parties, I found an opportunity to visit Snoqualmie Falls.
http://www.intwinpeaks.com/2009/03/r...wordpress.com/
Our sumptuous meals consisted of meat loaf, twin peaks of mashed potatoes or carrot puree, green beans, tied into log bundles, damn fine cherry pie and coffee. Hey, it was reason to get together...
I will be going to Bali next month and feasting on crisp pig from the restaurant called Ibu Oka, featured on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations (went last time--it WAS good!!)
My sister is off this spring to the hotel where they filmed the Shining....
I also love watching a film and seeing that place in Prague or Budapest where we waited for the tram or walking by the restaurant where we ate in ______. Good stuff to recall and see again!Last edited by kyshel; 04-10-2012 at 01:03 PM.

04-10-2012, 01:07 PMGood question. I have a favorite film, which is set in Paris. Possibly you know the title:
Femme Fatale
Femme Fatale | Moviefone
I don't think it's the magic of Paris, which is visually captured in many, many scenes.
I guess the reason I own the DVD and continue to watch the film time and time again is directly related to seeing Rebecca Romijn. For that matter, the film could have been shot almost anywhere and I would still enjoy watching it.

I remember watching that movie with Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan where Crowe helped get Ryan's kidnapped husband back (I forget the title of the movie) - it was shot in Ecuador and I remember watching the scenes, especially in Quito, and my husband and I had a great time remembering being there!

First I read the book and then saw the film Motorcycle Diaires. Hard not to be impressed with the vistas in the film.

Letters to juliet
I saw this movie last year and knew we had to go to Verona. Not only did I want to go to
Verona, I wanted to stay in the apartments right under the "famous balcony". So, we
went to Verona, stayed in the much advertised apartments right in the courtyard where
the romance and magic of Romeo and Juliet (albeit fantasy), was to have happened.
As the saying goes, "be careful what you wish for", staying in this historical site
also meant that everyone who visited Verona, saw the movie, wanted to be apart of
the magic and would go to all lengths to crowd into the area (which, I might add, was also the entrance for anyone staying in these apartments), making it extremely difficult to
exit or enter our apartment. We were told in the evening, not to let anyone inside the
courtyard as it was considered an historical site, for which we had the key upon closing
to arrive and depart on our own. We had at least, without exaggeration, 20-30 people
every night gather under our window, begging to be let in, lining up very early in the morning
to catch a "first glimpse" of whatever they thought they would see. As magical as the
whole experience was to be for us, I felt taken in by all the fantasy as we pushed our
way out of the door each day. Alas, Romeo and Juliet, you can have your balcony back,
I needed some sleep!!!
