Hawaii for beach haters...
Lots of inspiring places to see if your interested in Hawaii - but not the beach... Check it out!
Hawaii for beach haters - CNN.com

Waimea Canyon State is one of the island's greatest natural wonders with lush green forests that blanket its top.

I'm surprised that CNN didn't mention the drive to Hana, which takes a full day. Tourists can continue past Hana to Oheo Gulch and Palapala Church, where Charles Lindbergh is buried. Continuing past that, there's the Tedeschi Winery, Maui's only winery, where you can taste and buy pineapple wine. Hawaii also has a lot of excellent, but expensive, restaurants. Photography buffs can find lots of worthy subjects to take photos of as well. You can throw a rock and probably hit an art gallery if you're in Lahaina, Wailea, or any other major tourist area. Whale watching is also an option for the beach averse.

Ha ha--they missed a few, eh??-CNN is McNews. I agree about the winery but the pineapple wine is pretty lame. We really enjoyed the ranch there. They have a rose bubbly that's fairly respectable.

Yes, but it's probably the best pineapple wine you've ever had

03-08-2012, 09:42 AMHaving made two trips during the past five or so years to Hawaii, I see no reason to return. The water is too cold for me to really enjoying swimming or diving, the resorts are over priced and most of all I really don't care for the crowded aspect of most places I have visited. I guess if you have never been there, it is worth a visit.
My favorite experiences have involved several scenic chopper excursions.
Moving on to other places.
