HELP! I'M HIGH BIDDER ON AN AUCTION AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE MY GIFT CERTIFICATE

I just purchased an auction item on the website and when I went to pay for the item, there is no way for me to use my gift certificate. Unfortunately, the Luxury Link office is closed until Tuesday morning because of the Labor Day holiday. Is there a way to do this over the computer? Should I pay the entire amount by credit card and call in next week? Should I just wait until next week to pay for the item, or will I lose the auction because of non-payment?

I'd appreciate it if anyone with experience using a gift certificate would get back to me ASAP. Muchas gracias, amigos!

call or email customer service and we'll take care of it on Tuesday, assuming the gift certificate is valid.

gift certificates are handled manually.

i see that you won this auction today. you have 24 hours to pay for this auction, excluding weekends/holidays. wait till tuesday to pay and redeem your certificate.

it will not be a problem and will actually be easier for us if you pay for it later.

Isn't it a rush to buy your first one? I recently posted a short piece about the last auction I won. When it's something you've been dreaming about, it's so exciting!

Kyshel, we're going to Guanajuato, Mexico. Yes, the first time is always special (I'm talking about Luxury Link auctions). The package is incredible. Four nights at Quinta Las Acacias in a suite with a jacuzzi, welcome basket with fresh fruit and a bottle of wine, breakfast for two each morning, dinner one night with a bottle of wine, and full day guided tour of the city. The retail price is $1,697, but I purchased the package for the auction minimum of $749. I applied my V.I.P. gift certificate so the cost was only $499 plus the $30 handling fee. Not bad since the nightly rate for the suite alone is $290 plus tax, which is fairly high in Mexico. I've been corresponding with the hotel manager and she told me that other than meals, there will be no extra charges for our two teenagers. Since our trip will be for around ten days, we will also go to San Miguel de Allende and Queretaro.

What was the last auction that you purchased and where can I read about it? I think that I read about it recently, but I'm not sure where you're going. How many have you purchased? My wife isn't very familiar with the Luxury Link website and she's a little skeptical about this whole deal. I reassured her that it's legitimate, but the only way that she'll believe me is when we arrive at the hotel.

Congrats, thepiranha! That was one of the first auctions I looked at when I got my first GC! The other one was Villa Maria Cristina. Both sounded awesome, but we have yet to make our way west. You probably read my LL blog entry about buying our dream pkg in Bali. Not knowing IF the same property would be avail (didn't show up often) I went thru the short auction 5 minute extension war and paid the price. Of course, it DID show up a few hours later and I could have MAYBE saved the diff, but I was willing and that's the pkg I wanted. That's the way the LL auctions work, right? You snooze, you lose--I had no buyer's remorse, either!! We got the Royal Pita Maha 5 night pkg, villa w/private pool (big enough for laps!) floor/ceiling windows over the valley, transfers,bfasts, dinner, half day spa, daily tea, yoga and treks--it's one of the top properties there (not up to the Bulgari or Viceroy...) I used the last of my $500 GCs (from the olden days when LL was very generous!)and it netted out at less than $170 night with all those perks. Considering Bali has 21% tax/service, the best deal I got from the hotel was $450 and it didn't touch the LL price. So tell your wife, fear no more!! It's true, it's true!! We are totally cranked up!

That's so great that you can add your kids to the suite--bet you'll have to fight them for the jacuzzi! You are going to have such a fabulous time--maybe you should go inside the suite first and take a photo of Dr. Skeptic's face when she opens the door? What fun!
