hi mlgprg
Don't know the Casa Velas Boutique Hotel but my wife and I did spend a wonderful week in Puerta Vallarta some years ago atLas Velas Resort. It had a large number of two and three-storey villa-style buildings on lush grounds with hundreds of stately palm trees and lots of other colorful vegetation. There was a smallish pool just up from the beach and a "restaurant" pavillion beside the pool and at night a live Mexican band entertained the guests. It was located right on the horse-shoe-shaped Bahia De Banderas and had a long, lovely beach along theocean-side of the property which fronted onto the main road between the old downtown of PV (about a 20-minute bus ride south) and all the newer, high-rise hotels out at Nuevo Vallarta to the north.A short distance north of Las Velas was a large marina full of yachts and lined with high-rise condos.
Could it be that the two are the same with a slightly different name? You may want tocheck the Internet. If they are the same, you'll be in for a pleasant vacation. If you go to PV, check out Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's 'love nest' hacienda high on the hill ovelooking the Old Town. Also, rent a car or take a taxi or bus about 1/2 hour south of PV along the coast road to the location where themovie Night of the Iguana, starring the famous lovebirds, was filmed.
