I am in desperate need of suggestions. We are considering Mexico or any of the Caribbean Islands (we will needthe heatas my future husband firmly believes that it will snow on our wedding day!). We are leaning towards an AI resort but will consider other hotels/inns. We want to go somewhere where there is the option of doing things (sightseeing, snorkeling, etc.)as well asrelaxing on the beach. Great food and service are a must. Also, any suggestions of "mustsee/do" activities are appreciated.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage, stacya!
If you'll type the word honeymoon in the box left of "search" above, you'll find oodles of suggestions for the same places that interest you. You can also go to the destinations section in the community forum and see what others have said about specific properties the know and recommend (or dislike--which is always helpful!) You can also search thru the LL offerings by country/island/region and see what's being auctioned or sold right now for later use. Hope that narrows your searching and gives you a start."wherever you go, there you are"

Hi stacya. Kyshel offered some great tips. Also, send some more info to the community such as: airport flying from, rough budget, activities (tennis, golf, spa), etc that you are interested in. As many details as possible will help us narrow your search also. There are SO many great LL packages also that we might be able to direct you to.

bonniejoy03 ,
We can fly from Philadelphia, PA orNewark,NJ. We are looking to go for anywhere from 6 to 8 nights. We do not want to spend forever on a plane (he has very long legs and I do not want to cram him into a seat for a long flight on the way to our honeymoon). As far as activities, definitely a spa, snorkeling, sailing, hiking, swimming, and anything new and interesting to try. I also want to go somewhere where there are cultural things to see. Basically, I want it all.... I've taken a few LL vacations and every one was wonderful and I'm having adifficult time picking for the honeymoon.

Re: Honeymoon in February
Hi Stacya. You are close to me. You will have a lot of choices with Newark or Philly airport. Have you considered Belize? With Belize, you will be on the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world!! The snorkelling is amazing. For culture, there are tours to the Mayan ruins from any place in Belize. The Mayan world is quite interesting and very different! For spas, many of the resorts have spas. The flights are easy out of Philly or Newark to Belize City. From Belize City, you take a little plane to fly to the beach or can drive directly to the countryside. I might consider some time at the beach and some time in the mountain pine ridge. I do see a LL auction for some villas in the Ambergris area. Also, Francis Ford Coppola has three properties (two in Belize) that are interesting. What do you think???

Thank you so much for the suggestion, I looked at the properties in Belize. Has anyone been to either CottonTree Lodge or St. George's Caye Resort? Does anyoneknow if LL will have these asoptions for travel in Feb. 2009 to March 2009? Thepackages now do not cover our honeymoon dates.

Re: Honeymoon in February
Hi Stacya. I haven't been to those properties. It is no guarantee that these properties will be offered in your time frame. February is considered high season in the Caribbean and Central America. You might need to watch other properties. I thought there was one in Ambergris Caye offered...La Perla? That looked kind of neat and it went into 2009.

Re: Honeymoon in February
hi stacya! Decisions are awful, aren't they? there is a really good review on tripadvisor regarding Cotton Tree Lodge. I corresponded with a member about it several times--it seems to me that CTL is totally opposite from St George's. We're talking inland river, no beach. CTL is a family oriented eco resort that is probably below the typical LL luxury level. I did a lot of research on CTL and even tho I haven't been [yet] I would consider it more like Ariau Towers in Brazil--unique and exotic, yet as luxurious as possible for that type of resort. We went to Ariau recently and I would not trade it for anything in it's class.
What other LL pkgs have you taken?
I'll be helping my niece make her honeymoon plans for next June, but they only have 5 days and short flight needs and all they want is an all-inclusive beach resort. Just as difficult!!"wherever you go, there you are"

bonniejoy03 - The location you suggested is not available in February and it is a package for up to 10. It does look beautiful, but we want to honeymoon alone. I think I will run into the availability problem withlooking for islandtrips in February. Please let me know if you come across anything else that you would suggest.

Kyshel ~ I went to Charleston Place in Charleston, SC. I actually bought two packages (3 nights each)and stayed there back to back. Charleston Place was unbelievable (it's an Orient Express property and the hotel is on rollers) and they switched some of the package since I would be doubling up (instead of two carriage rides, we did a carriage ride and a walking tour). I highly recommend the hotel!
I alsowent to Red Mountain Spa whichwas wonderful. It is great for couples (which surprised me)as well asjust women. They had quite a variety of activities, the food was very good, and the spa treatments were some of the best I have had.
The other package was the DeerfieldInn in Deerfield, MA which was verynice. It is in a historical area and we went on a wine tasting dinnerweekend (around 9 courses with three times as muchwine - really nice varieties of wine) which wasa lot offunto participate in and we had the chance to meet some really interesting people through the dinner.
Every package Igone on has exceeded my expectations.
I did go to Riu Palace Los Americans (all-inclusive beach resort)in Cancun, Mexico for aco-worker's wedding andliked the property. It wasimmaculate with a variety of restaurants to eat at. I was only there 5 days so I know it can be done and while it would have been nice to be there longer, I did not feel like I missed a lot by only being there 5 days (direct flights helped to not eat up my time there).
