I have bought numerous and amazing packages from Luxury Link without a problem. Recently, I purchased an auction for the Hotel Blake, which I reserved for July 4. After my purchase, I read numerous reviews on various travel websites, such as Tripadvisor.com, and there are a multitude of negative reviews on this property and the adjoining restaurant. Had I read the reviews before bidding, I would have passed this property in a second.
Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Blake who could comment on the reviews I have read and share their experiences?
Does Luxury Link staff pay any attention to the reviews on travel websites, or do they just sign up any property willing and able to pay the fees to be on Luxury Link?
I am more than nervous about our upcoming stay and regretting my purchase.

Re: Hotel Blake Chicago
fredelledge....we love using www.tripadvisor.com and have found it to be a wonderful source of information. We especially enjoy reading "negative" comments on properties we are in the process of visiting. We are not opposed to telephone or email the property and asking them to respond to the issues outlined in the negative comment(s). If management is dismissive of the comments without an informed explanation, then we might be a bit suspect.
Our personal experiences have been "added" services and "extra" attentive care often occurs when you have had prior contact with a property. Of the more than 17 trips we have purchased through LL, (several of which had "negative" comments on tripadvisor), we have never had a poor experience.
btw...we checked the Hotel Blake ontripadvisor and there certainly are some unhappy guest comments. Ifwe were on our way tothe Hotel Blake, we would be making a telephone call and speaking with no less than the assistant general manager and asking some questions! Can't hurt.
Other community members may have different experiences they wish to share.- Ω -

That's great advice. I will give the hotel a call tomorrow and discuss the situation with them. Thanks!

fredelledge, how about an update on your conversations with management at the Hotel Blake? Did you telephone and if so, do you feel comfortable with the information your received?

Re: Hotel Blake Chicago
Hi fredelledge. I have also looked ath the Hotel Blake for a long weekend get away from our home on the East Coast. I will be interested in your responses.
I do like to use Tripadvisor.com. I do LOVE to read the travel reviews. However, I have found them to be quite interesting as to what people like and don't like. (there have been numerous threads on this issue in the past.) Only in my opinion, the reviews that seem extremely negative seem to come from someone expecting something that is out of the norm (for example, room service in huts in a Central American country along with bedroom slippers gratis! Crazy!) I agree with Omegaet to call the hotel and ask questions THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU. For example, with the Hotel Blake, do you like the location, is there parking if you need it, is it a noisy neighborhood, etc. I personally try to gather information as to what I am looking for in a property. (which is sometimes different than what others look for.)\
In summary, I am so sorry that you have been reading some negative info which might or might not be true. Do call the hotel and get some type of peace of mind and please report back.
