07-20-2007, 09:54 AMHotel Posta/ Ca'Pisani Hotel Review
We recently returned from our Italy holiday, and I wanted to let you know about the packages we purchased from LuxuryLink. We arrived at the Hotel Posta on July 5. We were given the top floor suite which had a deck attached. The livingroom and bedroom were very large. The livingroom contained a chair, coffee table, two couches which made into beds if there were children traveling, a tv, a wardrobe, minibar, coffee maker and assorted lamps. The bedroom contained a king sized bed, tv, chair, endtables, dressers and a desk. There also was a sky light in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom had two sinks, a vanity, tub and shower. All rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable. The wallpaper is floral everywhere, and I mean everywhere. It was a nice pattern however. The deck contained a little table with chairs. This was our second stay at the hotel. Umberto Sidoli, who is the owner, greeted us as long lost friends, and stated he made arrangements for several of the guests to go to his family's balsamic vineger farm for later in the week. That was an amazing evening. Eight of us drove to his family's farm wherein we had a tour of the balsamic vinegar business. We then walked across the road to Umberto's house, where he served wine, snacks and food in a most beautiful setting. It was completely unexpected and totally wonderful. As before, the employees at the hotel are wonderful and will do anything for you. I borrowed a bicycle and rode around the town all day Sunday. The breakfasts were unchanged from our last visit, with coffee, juice, meats, cheeses, breads, yogurt, cereals, fruits and pastries. Reggio Emilia is a great mid-sized town in Italy. We walked from the train station to the hotel. It was easy to travel by train to Bologna, Modena and Parma. The restaurant, La Taverna, was about two blocks away, where you could eat outside and the food was very good. The Hotel Posta does not serve dinner or lunch, only breakfast. We really enjoyed our visit, and can't recommend this package enough for bidding.
From the Hotel Posts, we went to the Ca'Pisani Hotel in Venice. This time we were given a junior suite as opposed to the full suite we had the last time. The junior suite was the handicapped junior suite. The living room was a little bigger than the livingroom in the full suite and bedroom was smaller. Both were nicely appointed. I must say, they did try to think of everything to make the room comfortable for someone who was in a wheelchair. The sink sloped; the shower was a roll-in shower and the hallway contained a closet which was reachable for someone in a wheelchair. After getting used to the different arrangement, we enjoyed it. They still have the little fish keys and all the technology to operate the lights, tv, windows and blinds. The dinner was great (you pick anything you want from the menu); the breakfasts were great (they even have scrambled eggs and bacon); the employees were great. Thanks Franko for teaching me some new Italian. We walked everywhere around Venice this time. We found the place where they repair the gondolas, we found a bar that served glasses of wine and beer with finger food to eat. We had a wonderful time. Both of these packages were great buys; I can't recommend them enough.
