How Important Is "Status" With Hotels & Airlines & Credit Cards?
Do you feel it is important to attain and maintain 'status' with hotels, airlines and credit cards? Are you motivated to focus your hotels nights, airlines flights and credit card usage with companies that 'reward' you? Instead are you more motivated by immediate discounts and savings, rather than long term relationships?

10-27-2011, 11:55 AMIf you mean elevated levels, when you refer to status, then I have always believed it. I know airlines keep very detailed records on their customer transactions and they track business by miles and frequency. I basically use two domestic airlines and work at building my miles. I use three hotels chains and do whatever it takes to add to my points. Of course, I look for the best fares, lowest rates and discounts whenever I can obtain them, but I am willing to spend just a few more dollars, if it permits me to use my favs when miles and points are available.
A BIG YES to VIP Certificates!

10-29-2011, 12:34 PMI may be wrong, but I think my family has enjoyed being loyal to selected airlines, hotels and primary use of selected credit cards. We have enjoyed a lot of perks. Yet, to see one of those VIP Certificates, but there is always hope.

I do belong to an airline frequent flier program, however, I do not travel enough to get anywhere near elite status. I have used FF miles a few times for upgrades - when available and I have noticed it is getting increasingly harder to use miles for upgrades, flights, etc.
Lots of support and applause for LL VIP certificates - I am finding them very useful in planning my travels, in fact, due to the certificates, I have not used any other site for travel (except airfare) for my hotel and travel booking.

I agree. I LOVE FF points! I enjoy reading "Frequent Flier Crier" to make sure I am maximizing my airline miles. I LOVE LL VIP GCs also. It allows me to explore different regions that I might not have discovered without the LL packages.

Forget the BA cc. It was the best with 100,000 points for joining. The points were able to be used on AA and LAN. We still like the USAIR Barclays cc just because we fly usair often. We receive two officer club passes and year end bonus if we spend over 25,000 a year. Its ok....
