The center of the storm is coming in over New Jersey and right over Philadephia - my work is closed Monday & Tuesday - we are prepared!
So glad it is not coming later as we are due to go to CR on 11/4!
Nor sure where in DE you are going but lots of places have mandatory evacuations so you may not be able to goRoam if you want to, roam around the world...........

I am glad you made it back from Delaware - it is closed!
8:30am Monday 10/29 in Philadelphia - we have heavy rain and winds are around 25mph
the storm is starting to head east to Atlantic City - the storm is stronger and Philly will get real bad this afternoon. Storm is still 250 miles off AC so it is just starting. Hope we do not lose power. They are also reporting some thefts in NJ in the more affluent barrier islands - they just caught some guy struggling down the street with a flat screen TV on Long beach Island - how stupid is that - what good is a soaking wet TV!
I'll be back later with further reports. Philly is in a state of emergencyRoam if you want to, roam around the world...........

10-29-2012, 05:59 AMWell, good luck to both of you.
Get used to the idea of being without power for several days. This will probably be a situation like nothing you have experienced. Having survived a number of similar storms in Key Largo, I have a backup generator down there as well as at my home in TN. Being without power basically sucks.
You will soon understand how much you depend on electricity.

3:43pm - still have power - thank goodness!
Sandy is at 90mph winds and will not weaken when the center will hit our area in a few hours - winds sustained at 45mph in Philly and expected to get worse when Sandy hits. Heavy rain, trees down in the city. Public transpo is all shut down and will be shut down again on Tuesday. State of emergency in Philly. Atlantic City is basically underwater as out many NJ shore towns. Rehoboth Beach also is pretty bad. Expect heavy flooding as far out as Harrisburg. NYC is also going to get hit pretty bad. Will really need the trip to Costa Rica!
Kyshel - I am sop jealous you are in Bali! Have funRoam if you want to, roam around the world...........

10-29-2012, 02:15 PMWow, the wind has really picked up in Toronto. The latest reports claim that the city can expect up to 40 mm of rain tonight with wind gusts of 100 km/hr. Not as horrible as the reports for our American neighbors (my thoughts are with you dhdanner), but bad enough to still bring down some power lines and keep us on our toes.
Fingers are crossed that the storm in the US passes quickly and that everyone stays safe.
