Re: I'm looking for a honeymoon destination in the carribean...
The ultimate hotel in Barbados has to be Sandy Lane. Absolutely spectacular!I often dream about staying there but it is probably above my budget. But as it is your honeymoon, I think it would be an ideal choice. It certainly would be a once in a lifetime experience and ofcourse that is what your honeymoon should be! If Sandy Lane is above your budget then another lovely intimate hotel is The House.. It is an all-suite hotel with only 32 suites. It is in St. james on the West Coast and is an adults only hotel. It is a member of the Elegant Hotels chain and you can use the facilities of the other Elegant Hotels nearby. One of their luxury hotels(colony Club) can be reached by water-taxi from The House. Each suite has its own ambassador so you will be truly spoiled!! It is absolutely beautiful and very intimate, perfect for a honeymoon. Hope you decideon your honeymoon soon. Keep us posted on which you eventually choose. Cheers, Mary

I would suggest St.Barth's, as it is very relaxxed, very French and quaint , all with no cruise ships or crowds. There are a number of good hotels and restaurants, but the Plantation is very nice and has reasonable rates. Good luck.

Enewson, I have a brochure here whichI was sent from a resort in Grenada afterI had made a few enquiries last year. It is called Laluna. It is small and intimate and very unique with only 21 villas.I know you will probably be feelinga bitoverwhelmed all these suggestions from everyone about your honeymoon destination, but just check this one out.Let me know what you think of it. Would Grenada be somewhere you would consider?

Hi Mary-J,
I really appreciate all the suggestions I've gotten so far on this post as this will be a very important trip to plan. Laluna looks awesome (maybe LL will sign them up too), however I don't know much about Grenada and more importantly getting there without flying on a prop plane. If you have mor information, or anyone for that matter I would love toknow about it.So far the places on the top of our list are Anguilla, St. Lucia, Barbados, and St. Bart's sounds beautiful as well...

Re: I'm looking for a honeymoon destination in the carribean...
When my wife and I decided to get married, she wanted to go the the Caribbean, but she wanted to find a unique location that would ensure she had a special wedding. After much research, she located Jumby Bay Resort, located on a private island just off the coast of Antigua. The staff at Jumby Bay simply asked her "What would you like to do?" They once arrange for a private fireworks showfollowing a wedding reception on a barge in the bay directly in front of the resort (which required their having the government close down the airport on Antigua for 30 minutes, since the landing pattern crosses the bay). They closed down their beach for our sunset ceremony, arranged for a private sail boat with champagne for our escape and thenset up an elaborate dining experience on the bluff overlooking the bay. They arrange for video coverage and had the edited DVDs waiting for us when we departed for our return to the states. Check them out at www.jumbybayresort.com

Omegaet, Jumby Bay looks absolutely beautiful. You must have felt like Royalty the way they treated you. I have looked at Jumby Bay before but not really paid much attention to it. Now seeing it again, I think it is really nice. Which room/suite category did you stay in? The Jumby Bay Suite looks lovely. I like the idea of having your own pool and the photo's of the private pool and the 2 sunloungers beside it is just the sort of thing which I look for. When we stayed in the Al Maha resort in Dubai which is situated in the desert we had our own infinity pool. After staying there, our expectations are somewhat higher now, so places like Jumby Bay is whatI would be looking for now.

Jumby Bay has had several owners over the past years.....we have visited again since our wedding and it seems that each new owner continues to improve (it is difficult to improve on perfection).

mary-j......the ambiance at Jumby Bay is that of your very own private island estate with personal service for whatever you should want or need. You also have the option of jumping on their private ferry and being on Antigua is less than 20 minutes.....and taking in all that island has to offer.
