Hi folks,
Thanks for your replies..
The update is: I didn't win the auction! There was one bid after mine!
There's a new auction for the same property, but I'm a bit hesitant on bidding for it! When I spoke to the lady in the hotelpreviouly I said that I knew the dates that I was interested in because the holiday was for my honeymoon. She more or less said that I shouldn't take any risks for my honeymoon, because 'it's such a special holiday'.. I don't agree with her, I think every holiday is special!
two2go I don't know if I should name the property, I don't really want to 'name and shame' the place. I'm new to this forum and I don't know the workings of it.. Do people give negative feedback for places?
I'm at a loss now! Maybe I'll give it one more try!

My opinion for what it is worth: The property doesn't sound like they want to work with you. Yes, this is a very special get away. I would still call LL customer service to express your issues like you have on this board. I would hate to see you bid, get it, and then have to deal with the person you spoke with not wanting to work with you. Can you imagine how upset you would be??? This person shouldn't be like this for you or anyone else trying to book a holiday. I know that I wouldn't have any comfort if I was planning my vacation. I would definitely call LL before I considered bidding.

Hi Fruitypie
I'm glad that you are back. If you don't feel comfortable mentioning the property that's fine. I understand and respect your decision. At the end of last week I had a conversation about this situation with Nancy Taylor at LL customer service. She mentioned that she would be happy to help you get any information you may need. If you are still interested in the property call her she is willing to help.

fruitypie, why not name the property? The staff at LL encourages us to be open with our opinions and experiences. I think most of us would be interested in know the name of the property just in case we are interested in bidding on an auction at some time in the future. If you don't feel comfortable dealing with this property, just make another selection! Why take a chance when this should be such a special trip for you?

Oh I totally agree! Name the property for sure!! This forum is one of my favorites with regards to travel as you really get some very well thought out reviews of places. People are wonderfully considerate and provide very fair feedback. For those attempting to make a decision on a location, it's very helpful to know what the experiences of others are. As long as you are truthful and honest in your experience, you can't go wrong here.
If you win and end up going, hopefully they provide a wonderful experience and you can write a follow-up on how great they are! Also some of us might have already been to the location and will know if they are likely to booked (smaller very busy venue) or generally have availability.
Good luck!!

Fruitypie, where are you going on your honeymoon? I would be concerned if you cannot get any kind of answer. It never buy an auction without finding out about availability. I call back until I get some kind of answer. My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy and we just ran into a problem with a hotel outside of Milan that we wanted to visit. We kept calling and could not get an answer about availability for the dates that we needed, but one person told us there were plenty of rooms for that time. We also had been talking to LL and they are great. So we bid and won the auction, but when we tried to book they would not give us the dates and LL could not schedule with them either. LL gave out money back and let us bid on another property in Florence and they were very gracious and cooperative about the dates and confirming before we bought the auction. You have to be persistent and pleasant when dealing with the hotels. Luxury Link personal are fabulous at helping. I feel that if the hotel is not being cooperative it is a sign that maybe you should not be going there.
We have never had any problem until this Italy trip. And we have bought a lot of packages, including a whole trip through France a few years ago.
Good Luck

Re: I'm new..
goddessrita, what is the name of the problem hotel outside of Milan? Is the hotel still offered on LL? It is potentially helpful to others here in the community when we can learn of specific problems. Maybe we can avoid the same or similar types of problems. Thanks.
