Someone, interested in East Africa,is going to have a fabulous time as the winner of the Cheli & Peacock Luxury Safari coming to auction soon:

This is a great company, withpersonnelwho understand and execute luxury service.

Their destinations are "Top Shelf" in every way. Wish our travel plans allowed for this trip....we would be in the bidding chase for certain.

Meru is a very special park and the animals had a lot of "human" inflicted problems several years ago. Anyone having the opportunity to visit today, spend sometime and observe the wildlife will be rewarded with special memories for years. One day I plan to write about our experiences in my blog.



btw....Elsa and her cubs spend most of their Born Free time relaxing on this exactkopje, while Joy and Georgechose tocamp on the flats below and observe their return to freedom.

omegaet, since you have been on this safari, how much do you think it will cost?

t-2-f....we didn't buy this safari package. Ourstay at Elsa's was purchased ala carte. You might expect the retail or rack rate of this auction to be around a $1,000 a day. If you are really interested, you can check the Cheli & Peacock web site for their suggested prices. Their safaris are "pricey" but worth it, if you are seeking a 5 star experience in remote locations. They offer very personal service and you will not be crowded by too many other guests in residence.



If you are bidding, good luck, we will not be bidding against you!

I was recently "invited" to purchase the 18 day package for a special rate of just under $20K.
Unfortunately, I disposed of the details and exact offer, so I can't confirm, but it does support Omegaet's guesstimate.

I've been tap-dancing, waiting for the deal!

kyshel and omegaet, not to sound like I am whinning, but a $1,000 a day would seem a little high to me! I know I have seen other safaris offered by luxury link for substantially less.

I personally would not even consider spending $1000/day for any trip. I was just passing on the most recent info I had. I spent less than that for the entire LL package at Tuningi last summer. Very good way to get a taste of safari. Of course, ours was not quite the upper level (no kopje pun intended!) as Omegaet's but we did have some pretty fine digs and game drives!

btw, we didn't say "we paid a $1,000 a day" to stay at Elsa's....we just offered a "guess" at what the retail number "might" be for this safari...the accommodations are truly fantastic and looks like connecting domestic air fare will be included as well. We did visit the Cheli & Peacock web site (which does not list prices, but rather requires you to send them a request for availability....we did), maybe we'll have an answer back in the next day or so. Or, t-2-f, you can send in your own request.



p.s.....just received a response back regarding rates....depending on on the season and level of accommodations desired, rates start at $500 pppn. So, let's see what the auction offer is on this one!

omegaet and kyshel, "cough"....."sputter"....."cough".....no way I would split with $1,000 a night. I have also done some additional Internet searches and have located many, many safari packages to East Africa which offer camps and lodges in the $300 a night range. For $700 a night savings, I could make some downward adjustments in accommodation expectations and probably enjoy looking at the same animals.

Did I miss something here?

Our entire package was less than $1000 for 3 nights because it was a mystery. We even went so far as to make the entire trip 5 nights+ fly time. I am the most frugal spaver/luxury traveler anyone could meet!
I love to build a complete week's trip around a small LL pkg and get the biggest bang for my bucks!

kyshel and omegaet, your guesstimate was right on the money. Retail at $1,000 a night and the minimum auction price is more than $700 a night. Too rich for my pocket. I would love to go to East Africa on a safari but this is not the one for me, even using my remaining VIP Certificate. Go ahead and bid, I will not be going head to head with any of you.
