Re: Kenya Dream Safari
I'll be watching to see how the bidding goes, t-2-f!
Too rich for my blood, too, but it is totally all-inclusive on site. Considering a luxury cruise runs about $3-400/pax/day, that's not so outrageous--but my accounting says I can take several trips elsewhere for the price of one.
It's really one of those "once-in-a-lifetime" purchases and if I had disposable income, I'd be gone!
My husband and I were talking about our first safari and would happily go again, but more in that price range.
I think I like the idea of safari in Botswana, after hearing so much from jashermd and others.
Maybe one day, we'll wave to each other from our landrovers!"wherever you go, there you are"

Re: Kenya Dream Safari
kyshel, I see this safari package has not attracted any bidding so far. This must not be the dream of everyone. On the other hand, maybe someone is waiting to snap it up with a last minute bid.

Re: Kenya Dream Safari
Hi everyone. Doesn't that price include flights between properties? I did look at it and thought it seemed quite interesting considering the price of other trips we have considered. I was looking at Galapagos and Machu Picchu with a company such as Sunnyland or Inkaterra. The costs really add up. Now on the other hand, I have never been on safari. I thought this price seemed good however I am no expert on the the area.
For my benefit, what would you consider a reasonable price?

Re: Kenya Dream Safari
bonniejoy03....Cheli & Peacock treated us like royalty during our visit to Elsa's.....from the information posted on Cheli & Peacocks web site, it would appear all you have to do is get to Wison Airport in Nairobi (thats the domestic airport) and everything is pretty much included from that time until your return to Wilson Airport.
For certain, if our travel plans were not already firmed up for the next twelve months, and we had never visited East Africa, we would swoop down on this trip.especially, if it could be bought at the minimum price or slightly above.
Do some independent research on your owngo to www.chelipeacock.com and see what they say (they dont offer a US telephone number, but they are very good about answering their email)go to www.tripadvisor.com and check out some of the comments other travelers have made.
Im not trying to get you orsomeone to buy this auction, I just happen to believe it is a great opportunity.especially, if it is tied into a few days down in Tanzania as well.- Ω -

Re: Kenya Dream Safari
Hi Omegaet. Thank you for the support on this trip. It really does look good. I am going to also ask my friend from Kenya (her parents and siblings still live there.) about the places they will visit. It is always nice to gather information. I am not sure yet if we would make the trip (still so much to see in Central America!) but more knowledge is a good thing!

Wow, looks like someone is going to snap this package up. It sure looks and sounds like a beauty. Wish I had the extra cash to throw at it and make a safari. Unfortunately, I don't! This really looks sweet.

Re: Kenya Dream Safari
dear community,
i know the company well, and stayed often at their camps when i lived in kenya in the late 90s. that price was a steal for what you get in terms of game viewing (in real 4x4s, with very knowledgeable guides), safari walks, food, activities, and accommodations, as well as the small aircraft transport from camp to camp. night drives, walks, camel trips, an infinity pool overlooking the plains in Meru. the lucky lucky adventurers will be flying over the rift valley, the lakipia plains, around Mount Kenya, and across to the Mara from Meru. If they schedule their trip well, they can likely fly over the migration of wildebeast and zebra from Mara to the Serengeti.... the 'sundowners' on Elsa's Kopje are worth every dollar spent. suggest that they watch 'Born Free' again before they head to Meru... a good warm up for that travel. (i had badgered my old friends in Cheli & Peacock to place a trip on auction with LL a year ago... and I am pleased they decided to come back, and pleased someone purchased that trip. it has brought back some wonderful memories for me just to think about their camps.... perhaps one day ....)
kind regards
