The King Cake
Hi Community,
Not sure about you, but it seems like everyone around me is filling up on sweets in anticipation of Mardi Gras. One of my coworkers (who's originally form New Orleans), has been very excited, and just bought in a King Cake to share. This was something totally new - and delicious - to me!

Have you tried this yummy bit of New Orleans before?
Is anyone planning on heading (or has anyone ever been) to New Orleans for Mardi Gras?

OH--waaaaaaaaaaaaay back when in college--I worked as a medical assistant in the Quarter (program sponsored by New College) I saw some treats being sold here--packzis (sp?) that I never saw when I was in the Crescent City.
I hope to never go during that season again--it was an experience for the young (or the wealthy) and NUTS!! hahha--not for dis gurl"wherever you go, there you are"

Yes, I've had a King Cake before and fortunately, I did not get the baby! I'm going to a Mardi Gras party this weekend - might be one there.

No Mardi Gras here instead we have "Faschnaut Day." Faschnauts are deep fried doughnuts. They are served around Shrove Tuesday as the last sweet before Lent.
