LL in April Conde Nast Traveler
Hi friends,
I just received the April issue of Conde Nast Traveler, with an article entitled "Luxury for Less". They mention Luxury Link, and actually did a test drive, comparing some of the LL deals with those offered on the hotel's own web site and other sites. The conclusion was that the auctions deliver savings, but the special offers are not so special. No surprise for the members of this community. They also reviewed Andrew Harper, and some other venues for booking luxury travel.

I just skimmed the article myself - and I must say although I want LL to do well I'm selfishly hoping the site won't be overrun with more customers bidding against me! I've always found the LL packages to be an excellent deal. As with any travel booking, you just have to be able to do your homework before bidding to make sure it is the best possible option for your trip.

I'm with you, Claassenam...My hope is that others who propose to be discriminting will not focus too much on LL, and leave the LL bargains to those of us who really know the value of LL. Although it might be too much to hope for, I would like LL to remain "ours". Cheers...Marolyn

I subscribe to Conde Nast Traveller and have read April's issue but must have missed the article. I will go back and have another look. Unless the US version is different from the edition here in the UK?

Hi Mary-J,
If you live near a large Borders bookstore they sometimes stock the US edition of CNT. The one in Oxford does though I don't think they've received the April edition yet.
Cheers,

Hi Disneygal,
I too read the Conde Nast article.I was going to inform the community of the article but came across your post accidentally. I willdefinitelydo a query before posting anything to avoid duplication!!I have been very busy the last 6 months and did not know about the LL community until yesterday. I think my first posting of yesterday about Chan Chich may have been in the wrong category.
AlthoughI am new to the LL communityI am not new toLL. I have been a bidder since it's inception and have won some great auctions. I also use other auction sites for travel. Travel auctions can provide a wonderful way to see the world at a bargain but one should definitely dotheir research before bidding.

disneygal...the CNTravelerinformation basically confirmed much ofwhat has been discussed on a couple of other threads by members. The responsibility to doresearch prior to buyingisthat of the buyer. Most of us who have been doing business with LL seemed to have done fairly well....although the prices have risen over the past four or five years. We always check directly with the destination regarding pricesbefore we place our final bid!
