12-18-2006, 02:45 PMLL for kids
I've been an avid traveller - until the arrival of our first kids slowed the pace. Now we're ready to see the world again, but most of the packages are still tailored for the young or "young at heart."
Any plans to create some more kid-friendly options.
Several places we've stayed listed on the site (e.g., Royal Parc Evian) have great kids plans, but the current offers aren't really appropriate (no second room option, no 2 room suite...).
Anyone else interested?

Hi lewiskl
I appreciate your situation however the notion of "luxury" travel and the presence of kids has, in my experience over the past 30 years, not usually proven a workable mix. But, I wish you good luck in finding suitable properties to enjoy with your children.

Hi Lewiskl,
LL has some great deals on private villas and or properties that can accomodate 4 all the wayup to 14 people, with every amenity you can every want for you and your kids. On top of this if you read some of the offerings , these deals may sometimes include a houskeeping staff, cook, and grounds keeper. If I had kids I would look into this as an option !

Hi Lewiskl,
Good suggestion by enewseven. One of such offering is the Carefree Inn in Arizona. You get a 2-bedroom apartment with kitchen and houskeeping facilities and yet you have all the amenities of the resort, tennis, horseback riding, golfing for the adults, pools etc. Another one would be Biras Creek in the BVI on Virgin Gorda. Depending on how old your youngsters are, they could participate in the sailing school, diving program or snorkeling programs at the Bitter End Resort which is just around the corner from Biras Creek Resort, yet the parents an enjoy the plusher accommodations and features, like fine dining, etc. that Biras Creek has to offer. When you look through the auctions, have a closer look at the villas for 4, 6, 8 or 12 guests you can rent. Maybe you can plan a family get together with grandparents and siblings for a memorable vacation... just a thought.

Re: LL for kids
My idea of luxury does not include children of any age. Don't get me wrong, I love kids--barbequed, roasted, whatever works--HA--just kidding.
I tried to get the kids' a supplemental room for a special deal I purchased thru a charity auction and it was more costly to call and waste my time getting upcharges, etc.
I will take my luxury trips with my husband and leave the little dears at home!"wherever you go, there you are"

hi kyshel
That goes double for me. We travelled quite a bit years ago with our two young sons and camped all over North America in a tent, and later in a tow-trailer camper. We also stayed in lots of 'economy' motels. Now that the boys are grown, my wife and I travel top-of-the-line only. It's our time for luxury and we do not want to stay anyplace where there are children, of any kind.

hi alodgeforyou
Had a look at the website you sent me the link for. Looks interesting as it has access to many luxury resorts around the world, and has a separate portal to "luxury resorts for families". As I noted before, that's not my cup of tea, but glad its available for those who wish to travel with kids.

I totally understand .... my girls (12 & 10 years old)are savvytravelers and they do enjoy luxury resorts & vacationing more than we do!! My husband & I have done few romantic get away without the kids and found ourselves talking about them the whole time and missing them so much. We have tried club med few times and the facilities, buildings and rooms are not top of line! Therefore I started looking further and finding LL! But I find most of the nice packages are for 2 or not family oriented.

hi wisemomSee your girls are close to becoming teenagers, and not really the squalling little kids (between 2 and 5) that I was referring to in my posts. So, I can understand why THEY like visiting luxury resorts with you and why you'd like to travel with them (though now & then isn't it just great for you & your husband to get away on your own for that romantic time alone together....).Our two boys are much older and hardly ever travel with us now, but like you, my wife and I talk about them a lot while we're away (lounging by a splashy resort pool, sunning ourselves on the golden sands of a tropical beach somewhere, trekking through a dense rainforest in Costa Rica, or doing "the Ritz" at a swanky downtown five-star hotel in New York, London or Paris).curtiejoe[/quote]
