Longfellow's Wayside Inn Special

I just returned from a business trip to Marlborough, MA, and had a bit of free time so I drove over to Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA. What a delightful place! The inn was originally called Howe's Tavern and was run by the Howe familyfrom 1716 through 1861. In 1863 Longfellow wrote his Tales of a Waside Inn where he penned the famous phrase" Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere" and other wonderful writings.



The Inn itself has several re-created rooms showing the furniture of the original period, and the old bar and dining rooms are just wonderful with the low beamed ceilings, wide planked floors and lovely table settings. I wandered around the grounds and saw the Old Grist Mill and Red Stone School house (built in the 1920's - 40's by Ford).



You can stay at the Inn and I noticed that they are having a special during the summer for $150.00 per night for 2 persons including dinner for 2 in the dining room and a full country breakfast the next morning. This is a bargain! I had dinner there (Lobster pie and prime rib with a super fresh salad and greenbeans, and of course, a glass of vino!) My entire meal came to about $40.00 and the food was very good. The bread they served was SUPERB! They use the grains from the Old Grist Mill. The wine list if quite good and the service was truly wonderful.



So if you have a chance totake advantage ofthis really good $150.00 special, I would highly recommend it.

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for posting the Wayside Inn Special. This Inn is truly a charming one and has been a long time favorite of ours. We always stop there for lunch or dinner on our way to and from Boston. We surely will stop in again next time we are back in the States and are traveling to Boston.
