I have also read that coach seating in many of these foreign airllines is much better than the US airlines and many still give free food in coach and don't charge for checked bags.

Our worst flight on overseas carrier was Emirates coach--3-4-3 config on 777 and it was horrid. SA express was just like our RJ service. I've never really seen appreciable differences in coach class on AF compared to DL. Czech Air was pretty cut/dried basic service, crowded seats, mediocre snack box food. We'll add Thai Air this spring, along with another shot at Cathay (average, like US carriers) We flew Royal Air Maroc and EgyptAir and about the same as our flights.Quote:

I think it depends on the route/aircraft and seat configuration. Some aircraft have more seats/rows than others. Age makes a difference, too.
Air Berlin is not bad. Their planes are reasonably new and they still serve decent snacks even on short hop flights within Europe. They also do not charge for luggage and hand out free news papers and magazines.
LAN has the best snack baskets! Beautiful chocolates and cookies PLUS free wine! WEO...worth just flying around......
