Re: LuxeLife Experiences
Hi enews, I'm currently trying to find a nice watch for a graduation gift for my husband, and I'd love to hear who you recommend for pricing since you are knowledgeable. Actually, I take that back, he is actively looking himself (obsessively) online while I'm trying to keep his budget in line! There are so many excellent watches and manufacturers out there, its just that the prices can get a little out of hand. (no horrible pun intended.
) He's been looking at Audemars Piguet, Gerrard Perrigeaux (sp?), Vacheron Constantine, etc. We are in New York frequently so could go physically to a store you recommend, or if you have a couple web sites you've dealt with that you like, also when you say you got a good deal in Singapore were you there or did you purchase online? Also, do you ever purchase vintage watches and who would you recommend in that arena?
Thanks so much for your help....I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread!

Re: LuxeLife Experiences
Hi Enew,
Thanks for the tip -- I'll check out that website. Ironically, I actually visited some places on my last trip to New York, but I was a bit worried about getting scammed so I didn't buy anything. I also have a positive allergy to high-pressure sales tactics (nothing makes me feel LESS like buying).
I've been looking at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande series as well as the Cartiers (not Rolex, it seems like everyone I know has a Rolex), but their website is pretty awful -- do you happen to know if they do a two-tone automatic?
Cheers,
Julian

Hi Claassenam:
Wow, that is a very nice graduation gift, congratulations to your husband !Out of the three watches you just mentioned, I personally would go for the Vacheron. It is a very well made watch with a great and prestigious reputation as a true luxury watch with precision. Specifically look into the Vacheron Overseas, that is an excellentmodel. When you are in NYC go to a place called Kenjo on West 57th St., it a good place to start and they're negotiable. If you find the model you like, and don't mind buying over the internet, email me privately and I will pass on a website where I've gotten some watches before. They're in Singapore, and I have not had the privileged of going there YET !

Re: LuxeLife Experiences
Hi Julian:
I believe everyone has that allergy you speak of, especially in NYC
Definitely be careful when purchasing a watch as there are many fakes, like the ones on Canal St. These have made there way around town and look perfectly real. Overstock.com I know deals directly with the watch company's and do have the Reverso. As for the two tone automatic from Cartier, I have a few places that I know of that get them. If you'd like email me privately and I'll pass on the website and some other information that may help in your search.

Re: LuxeLife Experiences
Thanks for the advice, enews. We'll definitely check out Kenjo the next time we're in New York. My husband is currently narrowing down his favorites, he definitely loves Vacheron and really likes the Overseas but I think it might be a little out of the price range. I'd love to get your opinion and source once he makes a decision. Thanks again! Nice to have experts here on so much more than travel.....

well, I really don't need a fancy watch like some of these members, but I would like to get one of those Garmin GPS systems. I noticed there was one up for auction last week, but the price got a little rich for my blood. If you LL guys will keep offering them, one of these days I'll try and snag one at a low price.

While we send our "wish list" into LL, I hope to see another Treo on Luxe Life. I'm shopping for one right now and would be delighted to get one from LL if it is the best deal...and likely it would be. Cheers...Marolyn

Re: LuxeLife Experiences
Hello,
There is a thread on the 'Suggest Properties for LL' board for LuxeLife suggestions if you want to add it -- it's probably a bit more likely to get noticed over there than here, where there are so many threads that things tend to get buried. Here's a link to that thread:

Another way for LL to expand the Luxe Life category is to include designer scarves and shawls. When I travel, I take several scarves to change my limited outfits. Yes, this is a girlie thing, but it works for me. I often take a shawl rather than a (maybe unnecessary) coat. Either accessory piece is worth several hundred dollars and is key to my travel wardrobe. Since the accessories do not need sizes, perhaps LL could negotiate with Hermes or equivalent design houses for inclusion on LL. Cheers...Marolyn

Re: LuxeLife Experiences
Has anyone used or purchased the Luxe Life's current feature, Luggage Express Gift Card? The service does look helpful, but I guess I'm so set in my ways when it comes to luggage I'm a little nervous. How would a service like that do with a long trip through Southeast Asia or India? Anyone used this or any other similar service?
