Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
Hi O,
I try the AMEX "Make a Wish" each time they have an offering, but have never even come close to winning. That would be great to win a Porsche for $5k !!! This is acreative offering they have at AMEX and I have yet to see anyone else have something similar....Maybe LL could adopt something like thatfor its members.

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
hi enewseven & omegaet
Think you guys are onto something really good! An LL Credit card for Community participants only would be super. But, the world'salready swamped by umpteen hundreds of different cards from all sorts of companies, each of which offer all sorts of enticements to join and once a member, various incentives to spend. In my view, LL would need to come up with some pretty good and exclusive incentives of their own to make it worthwhile to get one of their cards.
My suggestions are:
make LL card available ONLY to LL membersextend a significantly lower interest rate (say 10%) to those who are VIP Contributorshave a points incentive plan that escalates the number of points earned for every dollar spent at LL based on the Community rank of the contributor (e.g. a New Member earns 1 LL point for every $10 spent, a Contributor needs only spend $7 to get 1 LL point, a regular Contributor gets a point for spending $5, and a VIP Contributor needs only spend $1 to earn a LL point).
And last, but not least: how about LL lets you transfer to this new LL Credit Card your current outstanding unpaid balances from ALL other credit cards you may have.

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
VIPjoe...actually, I don't think the credit card issuing bank would want limitations placed on who could acquire the credit card (after all, the bank wants to get as many credit cards into circulation, as possible). LL would need to sort out the "perks" and how they would be earned or distributed. I am sure the bank would charge an annual fee and possibly issue several different levels...standard, gold, platinum, etc. Maybe the higher level card would entitle the holder to an additional "perk"during a stay at a auction purchased property....or maybe "points" would accumulate quicker for the higher level cards. I'm sure that LL staff and the card company can figure out the details.curtiejoe wrote:

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
hey VIPoma
Those are some really good points you make, and I hope LLCommunity Moderators pick up on them (if they're game about working out a special LL Credit Card with some bank).
All I knowis that it'd need to be a really atractive financial deal for me to get into yet another rcredit card scheme. Until a few years ago, I had gotten about half a dozen different cards maunly because of the incentives they offered (e.g airmiles, etc.) but have lately got rid of all but two. I just find the interest rates most banks charge on the cards to be totally outrageous and almost criminal (when they pay only 2% interst on savings accounts).

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
hi LL Moderator-ksI normally try to stay away from credit cards (mainly because of the insanely high interest rates), but with a special LL card in the offing, I'm ready and willing, like omegaet, to sign on.curtiejoe

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
Hello LL Moderators,
A LL affinity card sounds like a wonderful idea. One additional suggestion: if you do create an affinity card, could you please make it available to those of us who don't live in the US? A lot of the airline programmes require a US address to get their credit cards, which is a real problem for those of us in Europe. Thanks!
Cheers,
Julian

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
Hi LL Moderator ks,
I hope you will consider a "first year free" offer like American Airlines MasterCard, United Airlines MasterCard, US Airways MasterCard, and American Express Delta Sky Miles Card. There is an awful lot of free Credit Card competition out there, yours would have to have pretty good perks if you were to charge for it. I am not concerned about high or low interest rates. I never put anything on a credit card if I didn't have the money in the bank to pay for it when the bill comes due...

Re: Affinity Luxury Link Credit Card
LL_Moderators...Julian makes a valid point, somethingwe had not considered when first suggesting the Luxury Link Credit Card. There are possiblerestrictions involved with banking institutions regarding countries of residence for card holders.
