Thanks for the info.
We have won several of the auctions and destinations have been wonderful.
But---popularity HAS madeofferings more expensive!
I also have been disappointed to note several of the more interesting packages (to me) no longer appear (Orient Express to Peru).

I have never been able to enter a bid on one of the American Express Auctions! Must be too many other bidders or my Internet connection is too slow. I will wait and see what they offer next time and keep trying.

Community Members.......if you have an American Express card, looks like they are getting ready to kick off another round of action with their Wish List promotion http://mywishlist.amexnetwork.com/in...7-int-mis#hp/3 So far, we have never been able to snag one of these offers, but we will be trying again when the programs kicks off shortly!

Thanks for the heads-up, O -- I do have an AmEx card but haven't heard anything from AmEx about this offer. Interestingly, the way I found out about the going once auctions was through an LL email, not through AmEx!
Cheers,
Julian

Did all of you American Express card holders get your notice regarding the "Going Once" Auctions starting on June 2, 2008 http://www.amexnetwork.com/? Some of the trips look interesting, but I never am able to grab one, at least not yet.

Re: Luxury Link vs American Express "Going Once" Auctions
mountie, I received the email and looked at the AMEX offering only the Luxury residences in Lake Tahoe and the Baja cruise aboard the National Geographic Sea Lion really looked interesting to me. Most of the other stuff just looks like run of the mill travel packages. Once the prices start to drop down to a reasonable buying range, its impossible to get logged in and make a purchase; at least Ive never had any luck. Stick with LL and save yourself a lot of needless irritation.

t-2-f, let me give you an example of how you have to research the AMEX Going Once deals. You can buy the same Alaska cruise on LL at auction for around $6K and AMEX is going to start offering the deals at just over $9K. The exact same package and I'll assure you some clowns with pay more than they need to by buyingthrough theAMEX deal!

Re: Luxury Link vs American Express "Going Once" Auctions
Mountie, you're definitely right about people paying more than they need to purchase a trip. It's the same as going to a live auction where people get caught up in all the excitement. In this case, bidders are going to be afraid that they are going to lose the package, so they place their bids too early. Why would anyone be the first to bid on a package since there are quite a few available for each trip? Doesn't make much sense to me. I previewed the auction today and wanted to keep an eye on it, but I had to go out and when I returned, it was over. Does anyone know the winning bids for today's auction or if there is a way to find out the winning bids? Thanks in advance.
