Re: Malaysia and Bali
Thanks for reporting back. I've always thought some of the best deals available on LL are for hotels in Southeast Asia. We've not had many reports from the area on this board, making your comments all the more valuable.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Malaysia and Bali
Cruisinred, I have to agree with your assessment of the value of Southeast Asia (and, really, all of Asia in general) - my husband and I can afford to take a lovely two-week trip in essentially any Asian country right now, staying in the top hotels in every city. There are very few other places in the world we can do that now that the US dollar is so devalued. In Europe the top hotel rooms that used to be $200-$300/night are now $700/night! Food is an issue too, although in the nicer hotels dinners in Asia are on par with nice dinners in the US, you can still find fantastic meals for $5 if you know where to go... We've been spoiled by the value in Asia and I don't know where we'll go next that won't disappoint us in terms of luxury for the price. Certainly not Europe, Africa, Australia or New Zealand, maybe Central and South America?

Re: Malaysia and Bali
By the way, Beerman, thanks for answering my questions. Bali is high on my "must-see" list and it sounds fantastic. Airfare and travel time are high but the value is still there. And Malaysia sounds really interesting as well!
