MICE

I am sure that there is someone who can clarify this issue.
I was looking at the website for Furama Resort Danang in Vietnam and the photo gallery has an unusual category. Just below accomodation and food/beverage is "MICE".
Now, after looking at the pics I can determine that is related to the convention facilities and this description is from the tab labeled MICE:

"The resort has recently put into operation the International Convention Palace to satisfy the growing MICE market with an increasing number of meetings and incentive groups selecting central Vietnam."

If someone would be so kind as to tell me what MICE stands for, I will stop laughing.

It appears that M.I.C.E. stands for "Vietnam Meeting and Incentive Club" (okay, that doesn't fit exactly but it's something like that) - not exactly sure how it works, but something to do with hosting meetings, conferences and tradeshows.

Are you considering going to Vietnam? I was checking out the Furama resort when booking our upcoming trip; it does look like an excellent resort (and is the place where many of the finer tour companies stay when checking out Hoi An) - I was concerned that it is still quite a trip into Hoi An and there might not be much to do in Danang proper. Of course, it is still a beach resort and there's plenty to do at the beach! Now, however we're skipping that area altogether - unfortunately we just can't see everything we want to in a couple weeks. I'd love to hear about it if you do book it. When are you (maybe) planning on going?

I was looking at Vietnam when the mystery auction came up for Dalat, but getting from here to there seemed too much for the whim of an inexpensive trip. We're still targeting Bali and I'm actually off to the library for books and some info for Kiev (my husband has 48 hr layover there this week, so it's new for him.--Hoping he will take me there soon--no visa req'd for Americans)
