Might Be Slightly Overstated
"How to Vacation Like a Celeb Without a Black Amex"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/elizab...82.html?ref=tw
...at least www.LuxuryLink.com was mentioned.
We always seem to get excellent treatment using Luxury Link packages, but 'like a celebrity' or considerations given to 'Black Amex' card holders....not so far!- Ω -

01-19-2011, 03:20 PMOk, I bite on the bait. First of all, I went to the link, read the article written by Ms. Thorp.
Next I visited her web site, Poshbrood. Then I looked at the qualifications of her team.
Just goes to show, in my humble opinion, almost anyone can start a website, write almost anything, and get it published and passed along on the Internet.

It does depend on when you go and where you go - when we went to Mexico during the swine flu panic we got treated great - upgrades everywhere, free food, waited on hand and foot but it was becuase there were no tourists so they were so glad to see folks.
When we stayed at Orient Express properties in Peru - 1 time there were mud slides and the 2nd time there was a train strike - so the Orient Express folks gave us lots of freebies to make up for the fact that we could not stay overnight at the Mac Pic sanctuary lodge like we were supposed to.
So in my opinion it depends on the circumstances

I think you're taking the headline too literally, O. The author was trying to get across her point that you don't have to break the bank to travel in luxury.

...but I'm a Headlines Junkie!
I often pick the longest line at Wal-Mart or Target, just so I can thumb through the National Enquirer, People and US to see how the cover photos and headlines compare up with the latest gossip stories inside.
In the case of the headline mentioned in this thread, I picked it from a twitter RT posted by one of my favorite travel sites (not the Huffington Post where it was originally posted). Actually, it was the Black Amex reference which caught my eye (I don't have one and I'm confident American Express will never issue an invitation for me to accept one).
I'm also confident the holders of American Express Centurion cards do receive few extra perks upon check-in at their favorite hotel or resort.
That aside, it was nice to see Luxury Link get another mention and be passed along with RTs on Twitter.
I don't follow Ms. Thorp's blog.Last edited by omegaet; 01-21-2011 at 11:05 AM.

01-21-2011, 02:24 AMI certainly feel like I have always received 'Celeb' treatment on each of my Luxury Link travel packages and I never over paid, compared to market prices.
