I don't care - I put it on my company T & E!

That's it! I'd rather stay in a 'homeless shelter' than pay these fees!

I do not mind paying for food but I do object having to pay for a regular checked bag - that in my opinion is an extra fee! You can charge for an overweight bag, food, movies, etc. but 1 bag per person to be checked should be included in your ticket price - no matter what the pix price is!

10-11-2011, 05:34 AMOne of the things that twists my behind, it that select group of roller bag carry-on folks that always end up in Zone 5 boarding and manage to avoid the checked bag fee when all of the over head space is gone. Anyone else notice this?

Hi Kapper,
Yes I have noticed that, especially coming back from trips to latin America - it is amazing what folks coming from Latin America get on the plane with and the airlines let them!

11-04-2011, 02:33 PMNot only are fees getting more and more nuts, now the airlines are cutting back capacity and fooling around with increasing fares again. Sorry, kyshel, I realize the industry is your husband's bread and butter, but these moves are killing me when it comes to trying to fly some place!

Our problem seems to be the decrease in flights to our favorite spots. Virgin Gorda has a closed airport, Anguilla expanded the airport but American Air pulled out! We now have to be "creative" in getting to our favorite locations. It is becoming quite costly. I remember a few years ago when there had been so many flights leaving from San Juan to the islands. This has been drastically cut.....

What is the difference when the price is built into your ticket or you pay a la carte? One charges you whether you want to check a bag or not.
Ummm, maybe this will help; which is better:
$330 RT including one limited size/wt checked bag or $300 RT + $30 one checked bag optional
Again, try shipping an average bag via UPS or Fedex to arrive same time as your flight and have it delivered to your destination.
Get used to it, folks--bag fees are NOT going away. You're reminded every day at the pumps and grocery and...costs are UP.
Mountie--it may be our bread and butter, but what are the options to get overSEAS? Most travelers are as dependent on air travel industry as we are. Ships are MUCH more expensive--you want to get somewhere in a timely fashion, you have to fly. Until oil prices drop, don't expect better airfares. Bonnie, it's everywhere. Even commuting to/from Cincinnati/NYC. AA and US Air have been hurting for some time and they're cutting in every possible aspect they can and still maintain CS and the small carriers/airports are really suffering unless it's peak season.
I can't appreciate having to connect multiple times just to finally get time to relax in paradise, when it's such a stressful complicated process.
Not to mention the time it takes to reach a place like VG.
PS--I'm glad the BVI's recognized your loyalty--you should feel special!"wherever you go, there you are"
