My motivation lies basically in the fact that I absolutely love to travel and honestly could and would go just about anywhere that tickles my fancy at the moment. I work for a major airline and travel free, so getting to these destinations isn't an issue. Our biggest cost is always the hotel, so this Web site is fantastic for us. Sure we get some discounts at some hotels that offer rates for airline employees, but they are usually the hotels close to the airports and not on the "luxury" scale that LL offers. I have lived in Europe (Italy) and go back there often, but usually stay with friends - but the Italian properties offered by LL are incredible and I have stayed at several of them (paying full price, unfortunately!).
A previous member stated that she keeps a map in her desk to determine if a property is anywhere near where she can fly and I have the exact same thing - except it's a big map on my office wall! And I always keep a suitcase in my car, fully packed with both clothing for warm and cold weather, just in case I find a last-minute trip and can go straight from work to the airport quickly! This is a huge perk of working for an airline. I used to work in the legal field and made a lot more money, but since traveling is such a big part of our lives and something I treasure, the flight benefits far outweigh the additional income. And Luxury Link has been the best thing to come along in a long, long time as it has given us the opportunity to enjoy our time to a higher extent once we arrive at our destination.
And one word of advice from a very frequent traveler: Don't determine your destination based solely on past destinations or places in which you think you would feel more comfortable - some of the out-of-the-way places or cities which you might never consider can be the most enjoyable, the most intriguing and offer a whole new world to explore!Keep an open mind, be adventurous, and enjoy every second of every trip!

juliebear, I thought you made some interesting points in your post. What are some of the out-of-the-way places you personally consider intriguing and why?

Well, when I am planning a trip for pleasure I have top destinations that I always peruse, and then if nothing appeals to me or the season isn't right, I start considering other options. For example-for me, I'd like to step foot on each of the seven continents by the time I am a certain age (its a personal goal). I have four left to go-so I consider destinations in those first. But generally speaking, its alot of fun to look through the destinations and auctions available-I've been to Paris half a dozen times, but after seeing the Trianon Palace and Spa at Versailles-I would have gotten on a plane in two seconds!
