Re: my submitted bid in time wasn't counted
jstanland, can you provide more details regarding the problem? Was this an attempt at a Last Minute bid or did you see several minutes or more on the remaining auction clock when you attempted to place your bid? Is it possible you were outbid by the recently instituted Proxy Bidding System?

05-20-2008, 02:15 PMRe: my submitted bid in time wasn't counted
I submitted my bid(which would have been the winning bid) 5 minutes prior to the closing time. I went to log in but forgot my user name( I had my password correct). I requested it but it didn't come to me until one minute after bid closing. At that time, I was out of luck.
If my bid weresubmitted on time, as it was,why couldn't Ibe verified and have it be accepted as the winning bid? It wasn't as though I was late in submitting the bid. Your computer can likely verify this.
I understand there may be rules about all this but it seems that I was on time with my bid and the only issue was verification of me, not my bid amount. Is it possible that Saybrook Point Inn and Spa in Connecticut would accept my bid for a second winning package?
Any considerationyou can give me would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

jack...my guess is you can forget about the auction you missed.....that's the "bad news." The "good news" is the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa is back up for acution and you can take another shot at winning.
Why not use the Proxy Bidding system which is explained in the bid section of the offered property. I think LL requires us to have both our user name and passwoods verified before they will accept an actual bid. You can image the potential problems that could develop, if on user names were allowed (with the protection of your password).
Good luck!- Ω -

Re: my submitted bid in time wasn't counted
Hi jstanland,
I guess you learned from your mistake, that to bid, you must be logged in, and the bid requires both, username and password for verification. The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa in Connecticut is back on auction again and you can try again. You can use the proxy bidding procedure as omegaet said, or you can try to place your bid yourself again the last minute. Proxy bidding assures that you will be the highest bidder if your maximum bid is sufficiently high and you are willing to pay that price. On the other hand, if you place your bid at the last minute, you can control the price you are willing to pay if there is no hidden higher proxy bid. If there is, you might still be outbid by the higher proxy bid which remains invisible until the auction is over.
Of course, this could drive the auction price up to where the bidding becomes unreasonable. Lets assume the auction starts at $1000 and the retail value is $1600. You want the package and bid $1500. Anybody bidding the usual $25 increment is being automatically outbid by your invisible $1500 proxy bid. If however, someone else wants the package badly enough and bids $1750 with a proxi bid, your bid of $1500 shows up immediately and bidding goes on till the $1750 amount is reached, and so on. This could make the auction price jump very quickly to more than the retail value, at which point, of course, you could have just called the hotel directly and bought the package outright. The danger in the proxy bidding lies in the fact that people put relatively high prices on a bid hoping to snag it for less and then find they paid more than they were willing to pay, or what the package was worth. Be sure you are prepared to pay what you bid. You might get it for less at the close of the auction, but you could wind up paying the whole amount of your bid.

jstanland...the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa auction closes in 24 hours and you haven't placed you need bid as of this time. Did you lose interest? Looks like no one else is bidding.....you might be able to jump and steal this one of the minimum. Good luck.

jstanland, I guess you just have to double check every time you make a bid. That's the best thing you could do on your part. However, you can always ask for help from the luxurylink customer service.
