01-27-2012, 04:40 AMI have carried the AMEX Platinum for 10 years and I think they just keep improving the benefits. I've gotten into some tight situations on several of my foreign travels and the special AMEX Concierge Team have solved them for me. Just make that collect call to the US from any phone, anywhere and thing start to happen.

01-27-2012, 07:46 AMHi Kyshel,
I have hemmed and hawed about upgrading to this card from the GOLD, but as a nonrev do you really think it's a good deal? I already have GLOBAL, although DH could get it, but we generally travel with our children. Would you kindly advise me on whatever you know about the Starwood benefits? Apparently I am a Starwood Preferred member by the Gold card, but that just got me a special line at checkin in Brussels. I am new to LL, but plan on using it quite a bit in the near future, I just wish they would let you double the packages in the auction for our children. Thanks for any tips/ info!

Well, Global is good for 5 yrs and the airport club access for a year is a good deal--the DL Gold doesn't let you in free ($25 each person/each visit) We fly alot for personal travel so we both use GE. The Priority Pass is the bonus for us, and that;s 3 yr membership.
Starwood just give you automatic gold- prv-just register your Starwood card and you don't have to qualify with X number of visits--It got us upgraade and wifi and added breakffast in both Hua Hin Resort and SHeraton Orchid in Bangkok. I work my perks like crazy!!
Take a look at familygetaway sister site here for family deals--there are some doozies!! If you have 3 kids, get rid of one!! HAHA most are for 4 FYI.
Hope that helps. PS--we went to cacnel Gold Skymiles and they credited the $95 fee and kept it along w/Plat card."wherever you go, there you are"

01-28-2012, 11:53 AMThanks Kyshel. My airline doesn't fly to Asia, or I'd be there a lot! I have looked at the family travel site, but I find that the deals aren't as good, so I just double a regular package, luckily I only have two kids! I love this site, it has really got me planning more trips!

whew--good thing one of your kids isn't going to walk the plank! keep shopping and don't forget that all-important baby sitter who will keep them at home while you travel...
I plan to use the PP for Frankfurt on Tues and then Athens and Barcelona the following weeks."wherever you go, there you are"

01-29-2012, 02:45 PMI use the AMEX Platinum. I take advantage of most of the perks and feel like the card is really a bargain in the long run. I do like the feeling, if not the fact, that AMEX extends personalized services and responses when I need them.
