Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Hi Mountie
I'm with you all the way on this! But, why stop at two or just a few more each day? Why not do like some other travel auction sites on the Internet do and offer a large number of such "RED HOT AUCTIONS"every day? Or, better yet, start ALL auctions at $1!!! This works very well on skyauction and should work equally well on LL. Hope the LL Moderators are taking note of these comments of ours.

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Hi C,
I agree with you, starting all auctions at $1 would be wonderful. E-bay does it that way, and I have snapped up some very good bargains over here in Europe... By the way, was your Rocky Mountain Retreat a "Red Hot Auction" or was it the regular auction?

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Hi L
Our Rockies auction was a 'regular' one, yet we managed to snag a very good deal on it. Now, we're fleshing out our travel itinerary within the Canadian Rockies by looking carefully at available activities, tours, out-of-the-way scenic attractions and historic locations around the Cathedral Mountain Lodge (just east of Lake Louise) as well as along the routes we'll be driving between Calgary and Vancouver.
P.S. Please rank posts.

Hi C,
Sorry, I am guilty as charged by I made amends and ranked your post. I had seen the Cathedral Mountain Lodge as auction with 2 available packages but not as auction alone. Looks like a wonderful place. Will you get a chance to also do some hinking the the Glacier National Park?

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Hi L
Yes, my wife and I are excited by the prospect of joining a weekly hike led by the GM at our lodge into Glacier National Park. There are also several other interesting excursions available, including horseback riding on lofty trails within Yoho National Park, snowcoach tours onto the Columbia icefields north of Lake Louise, white water rafting or jetboat tours down the Columbia River, and treks to spectacular Takakkaw Falls which tumble 832 feet (the highest in Canada) down to the valley floor below. It's going to be an amazing vacation.

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
mountie, t-2-f & other community members....the LL staffis doing a fine job testing these first RED HOT Auctions for consumer reactions and buying responses. All of us (I'm a prime offender) are impatient and bombarding the staffwith ideas and suggestions. Obviously, it takes a bit of time and coordination to institute some of these changes we are requesting. I've checked every RED HOT Auction offered so far.....and everyone of them has been "purchased" at asuper discounted price. It would not surprise me to see even more creativity in this catagory in the near future!Mountie wrote:travel2fun wrote:
LL_Moderators, I like the concept of the RED HOT Auctions. Seems to make a lot more sense than the $1.00 Auctions, which just get bid up higher and higer before anyone even knows the destination.t-2-f and LL_Moderators, I would like to see more RED HOT Auctions offered. Why just limit to one a day? If this working, why not offer at least two. One destination that might appeal to your US members and one that might appeal to members from Europe. Thank you.

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Well O, I understand that you are largely responsible for having LL put on these RED HOT AUCTIONS. Congratulations.... Have seen some real nice properties on them, but would like to see more over here in Europe. We could really use a lot more LL properties in Germany and Austria. Maybe you could persuade LL to give us more choices in Germany and Austria, not necessarily Red Hot Auctions, but just Auctions....

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
LL-Travelfan....your "understanding of my responsibility" for these RED HOT Auctions is largely incorrect!
Way back when, we did post something about offering "unique" destinations in auctions of "short durations," possibly as short as 24 hours. We thought the approach mightbringsome interesting offerings out of The Portfolio andincrease daily visitations by a larger numbers of interested buyers. There were a number of subsequent posts in the thread and other ideas were and continue to bewritten on the subject. Apparently, the LL_Staff gave some thought to what all of us had to say on the subject and decided to give the idea a try.
The initial destinations have been an interesting selection (we would have snapped up the Les Granges D'en Haut, Chamonix Valley, France, offered yesterday [what a steal], if our upcoming travel schedule would have allowed). There is no doubt, the selections and possibly number of RED HOT Auctions will change in the coming days and months....just a process of evolution.
We have no more"influence" with LL, than you are anyone else. As for destinations, it's just a matter of continuing to "hammer away" with suggestions.
Good Luck, Good Bidding and Good Travels!

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Hi O,
Thanks for setting me straight on the matter, but perhaps you are somewhat too modest since LL singled you out with special thanks in their announcement: "Also, we would like to give a special thanks to VIP user, omegaet, for his suggestion of "unique" and "deeply discounted" auctions. We are currently featuring four new Red Hot Auctions every week (Monday - Thursday), on the homepage. These auctions run for 24 hours only, and savingsstart at 70% off retail value."
Yes, I too looked at Les Granges d'en Haut, Chamonix Valley, France, it looked very nice but would have been much too big for 2. I would have had a hard time wresting up 6 more friends or family members to do the place justice... but whoever snapped it up certainly got a good deal.
As to destinations and properties, I will continue to put in my wish list which is definitely leaning towards Germany and Austria in the future. Hopefully LL Moderators will listen....
PS: As a reminder, until LL tells us otherwise, don't forget to rate the posts, even if they are just thank yous

Re: Luxury Link RED Hot List Auctions
Hi L
Thanks to Omegaet and others, we're now all offered the opportunity to bid on some excellent properties at deep discount starting levels. I just took a look at today's Red Hot Auction for a wonderful 3-day stay at a luxury resort in Uruguay. And the current bid stood at a mere $265!!! Amazing.Someone's bound to snap it up in a wink. I'm very glad to see this new auction concept on LL, but would love to see many more like it offered every week.
Curt
