New Destinations
Is it just me, or have other community members noticed there seem to be more trips being offered to Mexico, Central America and South America? Are rising air fares to Europe and unfavorable currency conversions beginning toaffect the trip mix? I guess you can include more destinations to Asia in the mix as well.

Hi travel2fun,
No it's not just you, I too have noticed an increase in Mexico, Central America and South America destinations. I tend to gravitate towards Europe and would love to see some new destinations there, especially Germany, Switzerland and Austria, also Northern Italy and Spain. Unfortunately, the Euro is making it difficult for the dollar to compete in Europe. You can still find good fares to Europe, but you have to look a bid harder. Air fares to most destination have gone up as the airlines are stuck with the current fuel crisis.

Thansk for sharing that Omegaet--I might have missed it!
As I recall, this was a special request ages ago from Bonniejoy3. I looked at it before it surfaced here, as per BJ3's advice. Can't wait to see the offer!!"wherever you go, there you are"

Re: New Destinations
kyshel & bonniejoy03....could be an interesting opportunity, considering the package involves the $500 a night Master Suite...especially if the starting price is around or under $1,000. Hey, any place doing giganticZen Gardens with drying coffee beans has to be a little different and worth reviewing as a possible luxury stay. Let's see what pops up!

well, so far the coffee resort doesn't seem to be drawing much interest!

Re: New Destinations
While I think it looks like a lovely property, I would personally not spend that much for Guatemala, nor would I stay around Antigua that many nights. Even the 3 night pkg doesn't have much appeal for me, considering it's still around $300/night, but that's my opinion.

Re: New Destinations
I have to disagree. We think Antigua is a lovely small colonial city with a lot of day trips from the area. There is a quite exciting volcano hike to Pacaya Volcano that is easily reached from Antigua. Also, some people use Antigua as a base to explore Lake Atitlan or any of the various markets. Some even do a day trip to the beach. I actually enjoyed Antigua a lot! It did help that we met a lot of very interesting Guatemalans who took us under their wing. (actually we are visiting with them on our next trip!)

bonniejoy03, how many days do you normally spend when you vacation to Guatemala -- seems like there is plenty to do, plenty of places to visit and not a big country? Of course, the reports on the roads really don't sound too grea!,
