New Futuristic Plane Seats in the planning stage
Designers are getting creative with a concept for ultra private pod seats on airlines that could give premium travellers more privacy than ever before.
This reminds me of The Jetsons!

Do you think Rosie will replace the FAs?? Very Jetsonesque!
If they're going to depend on a new generation [of gamers for revenue} for luxury travel tickets---good luck!!
Fun concept tho."wherever you go, there you are"

I'm not interested in being 'stacked' one over or one under other passengers.
Isn't this a page out of Pullman's old sleeping cars....dating back to the late 1800s or early 1900s?- Ω -

Interesting concept but not too appealing to me. I wish they would get someone to overhaul the coach seating - they all seem to be catering more to the front of the plane travellers - who can outdo the other with fancy chefs, seating, etc. I have come to the conclusion that the folks who run these businesses - airlines, hotels, theme parks, etc. just don't get it that when the economy is bad - you don't raise prices to make up for the lost revenue. It becomes a catch 22 situation ;-)
Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

One huge new profit is in coach, BTW and it's the customers who are willing to pay extra for Economy Comfort or Plus seating. Coach is being overhauled by some majors--with prices to match. It's "you want it, pay for it." and it's working.
Have you been in an airline club lately? I've been in SkuClubs recently where you could hardly find a seat. They have a Premium bar and aside from paying for membership (for some that's a free status perk) I see one-time visitors forking over $30-50 each to spend the day/shower, etc.and get comp drinks/wifi. The premium drinks average $10-15 and I'm astonished how many people pay extra. You should see the Russians at JFK!!! Hundred dollar bills everywhere! The Natashas get $20 splits of bubbly. I'm sure it's not much different at Emirates or other legacy carriers. Look at the Airbus 380 suites. And don't forget Richard Branson's ice cubes on Virgin! Korean Air has one of thephenomenal lounges in Inchon--it's got it all! None of that stuff is "courtesy" of the airlines...Last edited by kyshel; 06-08-2012 at 06:02 AM.

Well, interesting concept, but it won't be for tomorrow. We have used the couchette sleepers in the French trains for long distance, over night travel, but I rarely got to sleep. Wonder what the future really brings in airline travel. For now, lie-flat beds are great.
