New to LL - I've won an auction, why does the hotel need my credit card number too?

Hi

I'm new to luxury link and i've one my 1st auction today. So excited!

I emailed the place to tell them I won the auction and I asked how to make a reservation. They said to call with my credit card information to make a deposit. I'm confused, I thought the auction took care of the price. Why does the hotel need a deposit too?

Please clarify. I want to book soon to reserve the dates I want.

Hm.....not sure either why the property would ask for your # or say they were going to charge a deposit. I have not been asked for either when booking a LL package. I would call LL customer service when they open in the AM. They will be able to help with this.

thank you for the reply. hmmmm that is interesting. Maybe i asked to soon. i won the auction last night, maybe the hotel doesnt get the information till the morning.

how did you prove you won through LL? what did the hotel ask you for?

The hotel will receive the info from LL. The best is to tell them you have won and to start reserving dates so you won't be disappointed. Confirm with the hotel in a few days that they have received your confirm from LL. Remember, LL has to make sure payment is received, cleared, etc before they notify the property of your info. Hi Nancy! Not everything is instant gratification--like the email saying--you're the winner!!
I just got an auction this Saturday and rec'd the automatic replies from LL: you've won and here's the paid receipt. Once you have that, you can contact the hotel. By the time Monday 9 am EDT rolled around, I'd already gotten an email from the hotel in Europe, asking which dates I wanted. Not all hotels are as efficient but if you have any unanswered questions, LL customer service is ready to assist within office hours. Congrats--PS--where are you going?? we're not all nosy, but interested in hearing from new members and their reviews. welcome!

My fiance and I are off to St Lucia's Fort Doux Holiday Plantation for 5 nights in Jan. i'm sooo excited. i'll be sure to let you know how it was! The booking went smoothly. Only issue so far was they didnt have the cottage i wanted, but i'm sure they are all beautiful!

I checked with our customer service dept. and this is what I found out:

Even though the hotels are aware that the auctions are paid in full - hotel reservation systems often times can not technically make a reservation without the inclusion of a credit card. The card will not be charged, but will only serve as a reservation guarantee.

Meatbal23, congrats on your first Luxury Link purchase. My guess is that the hotel wants your credit card information so they can have it on record if you charge any incidentals during your stay. Please report back about your trip after your return. Have a great trip!
