Re: New to Luxury Link
Hello phylassgrl,
Welcome to Luxury Link! YES, this is a very legitimate site. The members of the community who write comments are seasoned travelers and have great insite into how LL works. Since you are new, I would suggest starting at the very beginning and just reviewing each of the catagories listed at the top of the page ie: destinations, styles & interests etc. This way you can check out all the auctions or buy now packages being offered. You can also look at the past history of a specific auction package (you can find this under travel offers). I find this history interesting as this will give you an idea of what packages are heavily bidded on, and what types of packages get just one or two bids.
The community boards are just that... people write in questions or comments and others respond. There are many, many different boards out there, from great travel blogs to great questions.
As for your specific question about is it safe/should you contact the hotel directly, when you are checking out a specific package there is always a link to the hotel directly. If you have very specific dates, I would recommend calling the hotel, tell them you are bidding on a Luxury Link package for XXX number of nights and want to use it on XYZ dates and ask them if it is available. If you win the package, (and after you pay for it) you will get a confirmation from LL outlining all the details of your winning package and the instructions to call the property directly to book your reservations.
If, after winning a package, you have problems with the hotel, you can always contact LL directly and ask for help. they have an AMAZING customer service department.
Having said all of that... do you have any idea of where you want to go on your honeymoon? Are you looking at a specific property? If so, you can ask the community if anyone has been there and for their comments. (or check the travel boards found under the community section to see if your honeymoon spot has some comments).
Cheers,

Re: New to Luxury Link
Hi phylassgrl,
When I looked up theauction for the Cabo Azul property, it is for a 3 bedroom villa and for 4 people and starting bid price is around $2900. You might be interested in the buy now offer for a 1 bedroom villa for two people and it's going for around $1900. With the buy now, you can purchase the offer just the way it is and you don't have to bid on it. The only thing I would do is call the hotel BEFORE YOU PLACE AN OFFER to see if they have a 1 bedroom villa available during the time you need it. You can also use the link directly from the offer page to go to the hotel and look up availability and also so see what specials the hotel is offering. When I looked at it, the hotel is offering a buy 3 get one night free... but I do think the LL package is actually offers a greater savings. By the way, the place looks lovely! If you like to swim, I'd definitely ask around to see if it is on a swimming beach because many hotels/properties in Cabo are on beaches with unswimmable beaches ie: water is way too rough!

phlyassgrl, if you are considering doing a Best Buy rather than participating in an auction here at LL, why not contact Jim Sanchez directly to assist you with the details or answer any questions you might have. I have never needed Jim's services for my purchases, but there are several members here in the community that have. This is just part of the service offered by LL.
Good luck.

Phylyassgrl, welcome to Luxury Link. I'm a semi-regular blogger and I wrote about my first time buying experience on the website and I suggest you read it. Just click on Community and in the drop down menu there are Travel Blogs. Mine is called Swimming with the Fish. Check it out and I hope that reading it will remove any fears and trepidations you have over purchasing your first package.
