A New Member from Australia
We have just had a successful auction bid and feeling very happy, but the closing time for us in Australia was 4am in the morning, so a very early rise to make sure we we stayed the highest bidder, we lostan auctionearlier because we wern't able to rebid, when the succesful bidder bid over us while we were asleep(3am for us), however all ended well at the second auction.
This is a great site, with the help on what to do with auctions(eg contacting the hotel to make sure they have a vacancy on the days required).
We will be using Luxurtlink again, despite early rises required for auctions.
Re: A New Member from Australia
welcome and g'day. Nice to hear from another happy LL junkie--"once you're hooked".
There is something special about that first win and the anticipation and the tension...
What did you get? Something in your region--or elsewhere?
Keep us all posted, please.
Re: A New Member from Australia
lightie101, maybe you should investigate the use of Proxy Bidding for your next auction, it may allow you to buy what you want and not have to lose any sleep.
Re: A New Member from Australia
Hi lightie101,
Welcome to the LL Community. I'm sorry to hear that you have to face the extreme time window because of your location. You might want to take advantage of the new LL program "Maximum Bid" which allows you to bid by proxy. All you have to do is put in the maximum amount you want to bid on the package, as well as your current (before you go to sleep)bid. You may win the package without having to go as high as your maximum bid.
Please feel free to post travel info about the land down under!

Thanks for the welcome, going to Costa Rica as part of round the world trip and g'day "Kyshel"
Yes I did use the" maximum"proxybid facility "Jsallapr2 "and"CMDAVILALLI "but obviously wasn't a high enough bid the first time, (Think was a bit hesitant) Second time, bid higher on exactly the same packageas a maximum bid, but finished up being the only bidder so managed to get it at minimum bid, so luck played my way being asleep the first time.. Thanks to both of you for your input and welcome.
Great idea for us Aussies & Kiwis the "maximum " bid idea.
Would be happy to be of help with Australian travel.
Bye from Oz on a lovely Saturday afternoon, guess most of you would be asleep on Friday night?

lightie101....welcome to our community and congratulations on your auction success. Must be exciting preparing to circumnavigate the earth. We must assume you will be visiting many interesting destinations and will betaking along one or more cameras to record your memories.
Perhaps you would consider contacting the LL_Editor andask about setting up a personal travel blog (if you have an interest and are willing to take the time).
It would interesting to chart your progress on your upcoming journey and to have you share photos and thoughts with the community members as you report along the way.
Re: A New Member from Australia
Hi lightie101 from down under! Good for you getting a Costa Rica auction! Which property are you going to? Sounds like the first one you have scored. If you need any assistance in the CR area, I would love to try to help! Welcome aboard!
PS- How is the US dollar compared to the Aussie dollar faring? I keep watching the auctions on the barrier reef islands HOPING that they become more affordable! (don't think this will be the case!)
WELCOME!
