Your color changes when you hit 50 postings. Based on recent past experience, VIP designations seem to be assigned to contributors with over 200 entries. Keep yours coming and you too will achieve VIP status in no time!

Well, curtiejoe, I'm not sure they will ever give me a VIP ranking if it takes 200+ postings. I like to travel and I like to read what the members of this community have to say, but I don't have the time to post that much information. I may never join you elite members, but I enjoy the community and the sharing.

Hi Mountie
That's not true, most of us did not reach 200+postings when we received our VIP ranking. When I did get the e-mail I was very surprised. So don't get discouraged...enjoy LL Community, and keep on posting. We can all learn from each others travel experiences.

hi two2go
I expect that the LL Moderators, when they were considering the recent appontment of the second group of VIP Contributors, took into account more criteria than just the number of posts. As a result, the new group may haveattained their lofty status with less than the 200 posts that seemed to be number of most in the first VIP group that I am in. I am sure that as the LL Community continues to grow, other criteria are bound to factor in the Moderators' decisions. In any case, becoming a VIP Contributor will always reflect a genuine commitment to sharing travel experiences and information with the entire LL Community.

Have any of you VIP Contributors heard anything about the Luxury Link Event in New York this summer?

Hi t2f
Not yet. Just checked the Community Announcements board on LL Community and saw nothing new about the up-coming VIP event in New York. Didn't even know that it's on for this summer...do you have any tentative dates? Also, I've had no direct E-mail from the LL Moderators or Editors about the long-awaited special VIP gathering. It'd be great to get some info/details from LL soon as my wife and I are planning an excursion to the Eastern Seaboard (possibly to Delaware, Rhode Island, Maryland, New Hampshire, or Vermont) sometime this summer and would love toinclude New York City as one of our highlight destinations, especially if we can combine it with the VIP Reception!

Well, if it's 200 posts, that will leave me behind for now. I only found this community in the middle of March. I jumped in with both feet and have enjoyed it enormously. Checking in here is now part of my daily routine. It's nice to recognize the same names and start to develop a sense about people (lhbrown's fondness for art, curtie's love of seafood and classic films). But it's too late to make 200 posts this quarter and I'm not willing to pump up my count by posting nonsense no one is interested in.
Here's hoping the above sentences don't fall into that category.

Well said fredhashway... if its quantity vs. quality, and volume of posts only that drives this community, the messages will turn off any real travel exchange. (I find it amusing that some posts that are 'thank-you's' or appear to be copying other postsby a different contributorare rated higher than the post that generated the thank-you.)Its a blog - community thatwill have to self-discipline, or it willcollapseunder its own weight. But that's what happens with most of these sorts of things. In a year, at this rate, it will be impossible to findspecific useful information, even withtopic specific boards, and threads. Sadly.

Re: Luxury Link VIP Events
Fred & obrienkf...actually, the LL_Moderators have notdetailed the current "qualifiers" for change of status in the community. The first time around, they did select the top 10% of the active community. However, that factor has since been withdrawn. By the way, the 200 number was an arbitrarysupposition from a Community Member based on prior changes in the rankings....not on anypostings from Moderators.
Going forward, none of us have any idea how the VIP Contributor ranking will be awarded. One thing is certain, "quality" does count, since the LL_Moderators make the final decisons.- Ω -

You're right, omega. I guess none of us knows the specific criteria, and that's fine.
I've seen somuch quality content since I've been here (much more than on other boards) that I'm reluctant to believe that that will change in a year. Sure, the community will grow, but I'm hopeful that this board will just get better and better.
