Egypt has always been on my list of places to see but not this year! I just read a story about the US sending planes to evacuate folks in Egypt - you have to sign a voucher saying you will reimburse the US government for the cost to evacuate you and they are only taking folks to Cyprus where you are on your own to get home - so after spending all that $ to get to Egypt for your tour -which you will not get reimbursed for and for which you probably had a return ticket to the states, you now end up owing the government and now have to pay for a ticket home from Cyprus!
I always register with the State Dept., however, I have been in 2 different destinations where there were problems and never has the state department been in touch with me in country.
