I noticed that in some of the Preferred Boutique Hotels (Grand Hotel in Lienz, Austria and Bayrischer Hof in Munich, Germany) no extras, like breakfast, dinner, spa, etc. are included just:
Package for 2 includes:
Standard Room
2 single beds
Taxes
Is LL changing it's practices with Preferred Boutique Hotels?
I certainly hope Luxury Link isn't changing its packages. The bonuses (breakfast, massage, guided tour, etc.) are what makes these deals so spectacular.
I certainly agree with you, but the more I check out the Preferred Hotel chain, the more I just find room rates and taxes and no extras, not even breakfast.
Major agreement here--doesn't suit the "luxury" aspect of LuxuryLink!!
I agree. These hotel packages are just "bare bones". Although Preferred Hotels are a pretty good 4 and 5 star hotel group and the rates are reasonable. However, it is the little extras which makes LL packages so attractive.
I don't quite understand the logic of not offering breakfast in the European hotels since traditionally, breakfast in Germany, Austria, etc. is always included in the room rate.
I have been noticing that more packages do not include as many extras as they used to. I guess when the economy is down the properties can not afford to give as much away.
Seems like this movement toward "perklessness" began when the first Preferred Properties started appearing some time back here on Luxury Link. Maybe that's just the way Preferred Properties chooses to exhibit their offerings. We like to evaluate the "perks" included packages first, especially when all taxes and service fees are included in the price.Quote:

We are planning time in western Europe next month, and I just wanted to say thanks to LL Travelfan and others, for the reviews and impressions of the region previously published here. Very helpful. We will be in the Netherlands (just missing the grand tulip show dates) western Germany, northern France (but not Paris this trip - doing Giverny instead). Have already booked a LL property. (But date confirmation has yet to come through - keeping paws crossed here).
Wow, I'm excited this hotel made it to LL! It was one of my favorites last year! The last time I was there--I think breakfast was included in the room rate, but I didn't go through LL. I do think this room rate listed here is very good. I know I paid more.
If someone does get this package, make sure to ask for one of the new "modern" rooms. They may have redecorated all of the rooms by now, but some of the older rooms are a little chintzy, which was not my style. The modern ones are much nicer in my opinion. The people watching here was spectacular too. I watched a really snotty Russian oligarch-type order incredibly expensive champagne for breakfast, then send his supermodel companion to return it and get an even more expensive bottle after loudly bemoaning his breakfast. I am continually amazed by how management of really great hotels can handle difficult guests.
