I have been to the south of Italy many times but never have had a chance to go north. This year I am planning a trip to explore the North of Italy from Florence on up. Would like to get some ideas as suggested itinerary, ways to travel, things to do, places to eat, hotels to stay etc...... Any tips and suggestions would be much appreciated

Hi Polyak3469,
Just a quick reply. I think you might find a lot of information on travel to Northern Italy under the LL Board of Italy . Have a look there. You will find numerous posts on Florence, Venice, Milano/Bergamo, the Lake Region and the Grand Paradisio National Park right there. You will also find a number excellent restaurants and museum suggestions right there. LL has a number of wonderful auction packages in Florence, Sienna, Venice, Milano, Turin, the Lake Region and lower Dolomites. Think about where you want to go, how long a trip you plan on taking, how many nights in each region, or town and let us know. As for travel, we personally have travelled by Italian trains which run on time, provide excellent service and are reasonably priced. Have a look under www.trenitalia.com to give you an idea of schedules and prices. Also, if you plan on flying into another than Italian city in Europe, you can avail yourself of cheap airfairs to Italy offered by Ryanair.com, or easyjet.com.Let us know more about your Italian travel plans, and we might respond to more specific questions. Good Luck, and let us hear from you.

We've been to Italy14 or 15 times. Do not miss Verona. If it was closer to Rome, I'd move there in an instant. (P.S. for those who haven't been to Italy, we've gone to Ravello on the Amalfi coast, and Montefalco and Gubbio in Umbria thanks to LL )

Have just returned from trip to Northern Italy. Weather was unseasonably warm but the scenery was beautiful. Definitely recommend time on both Lake Como and Lake Maggiore. Stresa is much
more relaxing than Como and has beautiful gardens but the scenery on Como is pretty dramatic.
Also second the recommendation to go to Bergamo - wonderful walled city with great views and
magnificent cathedral.
Used Luxury Links package at Townhouse 31. Staff could not have been more helpful.
Want to go back soon!

Hi polyak3469,
Have you taken this trip to Northern Italy by now? and do you still have any questions? We just got from the Grand Paradisio National Park in the Aosta valley and another week in St. Ulrich/Ortisei in the Dolomites where we did some great hiking. The abandance of wildlife (ibexes, moutain goats, foxes, etc.) and wild flowers in the Grand Paradisio National Park are unsurpassed and the scenery and moutain views in the Dolomites are spectacular.
Let us hear from you one way or the other.
