when a vacation package can save you money (or not)
michael, in my earlier travel years, I frequently shopped for and used travel packages. Air schedules and quality and locations of hotel were not the dictating factors. I shopped price first. Now, as I have gotten a bit older and have a few more travel dollars to utilize, I do not always place price as the driving force behind my travel decisions.
I can't remember the last time I purchased an all inclusive travel package.
I have not done an all inclusive pacakge in years and I have never done one through Expedia or other similar sites. The last time I did an all inclusive (air & hotel) was through Sky auction.com - it was an awesome deal to Guatemala - 1 week nice hotel in antigua and airfare for around $400/pp - this was about 2 years ago.
Thanks for sharing the article, Michael. I've never booked a package deal with airfare and hotel, but it's definitely worth checking into. It seems that people who book these deals can save a lot of money if they're not too particular about where they stay, but if you want to stay at a certain hotel, these might not be such great deals. Definitely worth looking into, though.
