OCEANA - Santa Monica, CA
Ifyour travelsinclude LA soon, grab one of the Oceana Santa Monica packages before they go away.want a great view of the Pacific at Sunset and a bit of separation from potential street noise along Ocean Avenue.request an 03 suite on the 2nd or 3rd.

No claustrophobia at the Oceana..the suites provide at least 800 sq ft.and the recently completed $14M+ renovations transformed this property into one of the most comfortable places to stay in Santa Monica.

David Nelson, the GM, and his staff will make your stay seamless and pleasant in every sense.want a secluded table for dinner..ask Mark the Food and Beverage Manager [knows his red wines and takes the time to properly decant before serving], he can rearranged the pool side seating to balance the warmth of the working fireplaceand offset chills from on-shore Pacific breezes during a late evening dinner.

Re: OCEANA - Santa Monica, CA
Thanks for posting the photos O, that really helps. Living in the area, I've been pretty familiar with the Oceana, and felt that it was getting a little tired looking. I wasn't aware that they've undergone such an extensive renovation - which would definitely add it to my list of recommended places for friends and family to stay when they want to visit LA.

I am just dying to know--those really are photos of the hotel's suites? You aren't pulling our legs, right?

kyshel....let me assure you...all three photos are real and taken at the OCEANA. I know this property from a "previous life".....and $14 or $15M in renovations can make a huge difference in a small property like this!
btw.....if youhappen to be in Santa Monica on a Sunday morning.....drop by the beach, just south of the pier....toward Veniceand take a look at two of my heros doing their Russian Kettlebell exercises..... Dr. Courtney Mizuhara-Cheng and her husbandmust drink a lotof wheat grass juice:

Re: OCEANA - Santa Monica, CA
wow--I'm sure impressed with the Dr's kettlebell ankles!! Mine hurt this last week just romping around in the fields going to the parasailing jump-off in Guatemala.
I thought maybe the room pics were a joke--the decor looks like somebody's aunt's condo.
I'd hate to see the place before renovations!! Are you sure the Oceana wasn't Tom Waits' former home? Maybe the nostalgic factor counts for something. I must say your beach view photo is gorgeous! But, I'd have to wear sunglasses to stay inside that room--kinda like Branson meets California? wow..."wherever you go, there you are"

I guess that proves the old adage, "location, location, location." I guess you're paying for the splendid sunset views and not for the decor. I think that tacky is a good word to describe what I'm seeing in the photos. I hope that the photos were taken before the extensive remodel.

kyshel & thepiranha (btw...do the initialsPRI mean anything to you)....afraid not, the photos are post-renovation and they were supposed to have used a lot more "rattan", according to the decorator!

-O-, I like the furniture! Was the bed comfortable? How was the food, I think the package includes a dinner.
